Bugonia's final three minutes are overlong because the vision of the destruction of humanity at the hands of a supposedly benevolent, white, upper class order is so deeply engrained in US discourse and social order that there really is no depth to the carnage it exacts.

But, much like the fantasy that a vague "revolution'" will somehow inevitably result in one's specific form of politics to become the de facto and de rigueur social formation, the destruction of humanity is another convenient, uniquely US, form of rebirth through ultimate, deserved violence.

What's more legible a narrative than one that posits the human race has f*cked up the world so bad that we all deserve to be eradicated? Let the proverbial cow carcass of humanity rot so that bees can emerge and reestablish the natural order of things
