it shouldn't be tough to find me here, given my profile pic.
Engine company 22 , SF Landmark number 29. Decommissioned in 1962 & sold at auction in 1969. This image is part of a new project to scan a collection of about 1400 stereo Kodachrome slides dated from 1959 to 1970 showing houses & buildings around SF #sfhistory

Looking through the recently public domained images at @sfpubliclibrary.bsky.social I came across this unidentified building (AAB-2731) listed as "Merchants Lunch Restaurant"(wrong) It looked familiar & there were just enough clues to find it. #sfhistory #sanfrancisco

An unknown photographer watched the sun go down on the last day of the year 59 years ago. With the help of some great volunteers I hit a milestone of 10,000 images on the site, I'm lucky that I get to do exactly what I want & happy to put this year behind us. #sfmemory

Yeah I've seen the plaque on Lotta's Fountain, yeah I've seen pictures of the crowd, but Woody's telling of Luisa Tetrazzini's Christmas Gift to San Francisco brings to life (and chills down my spine) www.sanfranciscostory.com/tetrazzinis-... #sfhistory

Not sure about this one, but I think this big sign was visible to the Eastshore Freeway just north of Ashby. Do you remember it? #berkeley #neon #demolished

A line of theatre-goers headed to the Times Theatre for $1 movies. The times closed decades ago and Hing Lung Co. only recently moved out. John Holtzclaw Photo #sfhistory

Maybe you're going tonight! (first time ever I didn't take any pictures of it, here's a favorite of mine from a few years back)

An Elevated view north toward the corner of Steiner & Post, Winterland and on the far corner, the Uptown Theatre. I remember wriggling through the gate one night & seeing huge blocks of concrete dangling from the roof while it was being demolished (probably a bad idea) #sfhistory
Just something great about this John Holtzclaw image from underneath the Embarcadero Freeway ramps with the Alcoa Building in the background, part of the recent SFMemory.org update #sfhistory #sfmemory

303 historical images of the Bay Area, people, ferries, 1960s protests. I didn't plan it this way, but this puts the total at exactly 10,000 images online. sfmemory.org/Update/2025-... #sfmemory #sfhistory

Having trouble with this one & need some help. I think this is US101 & Blithedale, but I can't find any extant buildings to back me up, lot has changed there of course. The road sign San Rafael 6 miles ahead, Mill Valley 2 miles to the left. Somebody set me straight

If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

A view northerly along the Key System G-line & Santa Fe Railroad routes. Elevated Bart track now run along here. (I've ridden my bike a few times along the Ohlone Greenway here) I'm not exactly sure how this picture was taken, anybody know? #sfhistory #sfmemory
