Engine company 22 , SF Landmark number 29. Decommissioned in 1962 & sold at auction in 1969. This image is part of a new project to scan a collection of about 1400 stereo Kodachrome slides dated from 1959 to 1970 showing houses & buildings around SF #sfhistory

19th & Folsom, 1930 & recently
Looking through the recently public domained images at @sfpubliclibrary.bsky.social I came across this unidentified building (AAB-2731) listed as "Merchants Lunch Restaurant"(wrong) It looked familiar & there were just enough clues to find it. #sfhistory #sanfrancisco

I always loved this song, 14 years ago, before I lost me hearing, I found this version, not sure why it brought me to tears this morning, maybe I realized how much I miss music but also because this still resonates for me. 2026: reconnect with the things you love www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlE1...

An unknown photographer watched the sun go down on the last day of the year 59 years ago. With the help of some great volunteers I hit a milestone of 10,000 images on the site, I'm lucky that I get to do exactly what I want & happy to put this year behind us. #sfmemory

Christmas Eve, 1910
Yeah I've seen the plaque on Lotta's Fountain, yeah I've seen pictures of the crowd, but Woody's telling of Luisa Tetrazzini's Christmas Gift to San Francisco brings to life (and chills down my spine) www.sanfranciscostory.com/tetrazzinis-... #sfhistory

Looking back on some recent SFMemory updates, these early 60s Western Addition Redevelopment shots by Cecil Hurd knock me out. They’re all here: sfmemory.org/search/index... #sfhistory #sfmemory
Winterland, 1960
An Elevated view north toward the corner of Steiner & Post, Winterland and on the far corner, the Uptown Theatre. I remember wriggling through the gate one night & seeing huge blocks of concrete dangling from the roof while it was being demolished (probably a bad idea) #sfhistory
