Next week's antisemitism conference in Israel has caused divisions in the global struggle against anti-Jewish hate just when we need unity the most. I've written about what it means. everydayhate.substack.com/p/the-antise...

All that talk of decolonisation, freedom fighters, liberation & resistance, and it ends with Jewish children paraded in coffins as grotesque propaganda props by Hamas. It feels like the right day to remember how some people welcomed October 7 at the time everydayhate.substack.com/p/now-we-see...
Now we see you - again
So this is what it has come to: all that talk of decolonisation, of freedom fighters, of liberation and heroic resistance.

The AI-generated fake video of Jewish celebrities supposedly denouncing Kanye West's antisemitism exposed a troubling reality: we need artificial outrage because genuine outrage is in such short supply. everydayhate.substack.com/p/artificial...
Artificial Outrage
A few days ago my social media feeds were full of an AI-generated video of famous Jewish celebrities giving the finger, sort of, to Kanye West.

If Palestinians want to leave Gaza and live somewhere else, then if there are other countries willing to offer them residency or citizenship they should be able to go. The moment they are forced against their will to leave en masse, it is ethnic cleansing. I don't see how it can be anything else.

Striking how similar the sentiments - and even exact wording - is on this Hamas banner to the placards and chants on protests in the UK. “Nazi Zionism”, victory to the resistance, etc. Different parts of the same movement.

Superb analysis of that Nazi salute and what may or may not lie behind it.

It was a Nazi salute - but does that mean Elon Musk is a Nazi? As ever, it's a bit more complicated than that. everydayhate.substack.com/p/musk-the-t...

It was a fascist salute. Even if it came from his subconscious, that’s what it was. There shouldn’t be any doubt about that.

With Holocaust Memorial Day approaching I've written about Pankaj Mishra's London Review of Books essay 'The Shoah After Gaza'. It was a deeply disturbing work linking traditional anti-Jewish narratives & contemporary intellectual anti-Zionism: this is my response. isca.indiana.edu/publication-...

Excellent piece from Dave Rich on the implications of changes to Facebook and other Meta entities.
Changes announced by Meta this week - ditching fact-checkers & removing automated filters for hate speech - confirm that they never really believed in the need to remove hate content, and now, in a Muskovite online world, they don't have to pretend. everydayhate.substack.com/p/meta-opens...
