Hey @joshuadysart.bsky.social. I'm teaching 8th grade this year, and my students just got homework this week to read Living Level 3 as a companion piece to the novel A Long Walk to Water. We're going to be doing some compare/contrast writing pieces with them.

I had to steel myself to watch the Jeff Buckley documentary. A period of my life revolved around his music, my radio show, and his mother, who was a friend I made through his music. It hit me with an emotional wallop. But that was his music in a nutshell. His life and his music were inseparable.

I had a chance to read this when Liam finished it. I was hooked right off the bat. Make sure to get a copy. Or buy it for someone who is a reader in your life.
Here’s a little secret - anybody can order the incredibly rare advance Rose City Comic Con variant preview edition of my new novel TODAY ONLY on Amazon. After that it is gone forever.

As a teacher, I suspected this would happen based on my observations of student engagement and attention spans over the last few years, but it's worse than I thought.

Lorcan is wonderfully talented and has a unique storytelling point-of-view. Definitely consider backing this.
I am SO proud of my son, Lorcan! He wrote, produced & directed this sci-fi short himself. I think it's wonderful. Please consider backing! I'll be producing an original print for it too, that will ONLY be available if you back this campaign. Any and all support is HUGELY appreciated! kck.st/3HPAKvl

I went to see Weapons with my special lady friend on Saturday, and it was a lot of fun. Great cast. Amy Madigan and Austin Abrams stole every scene they were in. I loved the camera work, pacing, and the way the story structure unfolds.

Not yet, but I will definitely check that out.

JB Pritzker understands something that most people in positions of leadership don't. Give this a listen.

Duh.
my @newyorker.com column this week goes in depth on how using AI makes us less original, unique, and creative as writers, thinkers, and communicators. Various new studies are proving that AI is a rampant force of homogenization: www.newyorker.com/culture/infi...

Sad to hear Butch Guice has left the planet. I first remember his work on Death of Superman as a kid, but I really dug his work on Winter Soldier. His linework had clarity and oomph. There's a ton to admire about his work.

I've been a fan of his work since seeing Real Genius as a kid, but my favorite movie with him is The Salton Sea. It's natural and vulnerable. One thing for sure is that he was a one-of-a-kind. Sail on.

Improve a first line by substituting Mrs. Dalloway.

An abandoned auto court in the San Berdoo foothills; Mrs. Dalloway checked in with 94000 dollars, 18 pounds of high-grade heroin, a 10-gauge pump, a .38 special, a .45 automatic, and a switchblade he’d bought off a pachuco at the border...
Mrs. Dalloway stood like a bronze image in the sand, apparently impervious to the murderous sun, though her only garment was a silk loin-cloth, girdled by a wide gold-buckled belt from which hung a saber and a broad-bladed poniard.
Improve a first line by substituting Mrs. Dalloway.

"It was a queer, sultry summer, the summer they electrocuted the Rosenbergs, and I didn’t know what I was doing in Mrs. Dalloway."
