hard to think of a better example of "you may not believe in class war, but billionaires know they're in one" than this
This is bleak: Jes Staley, currently CEO of Barclays, reassuring Epstein that popular revolt against financial elites is unlikely because capitalism and pop culture have defanged social movements, leaving people more invested in consumption than justice.

This might sound like hyperbole.

It is not.

They took a decision they were warned would cause trans kids to die. Trans kids died. They covered that up and attacked those trying to expose their cover up.

They deserve to go to prison and nobody will ever be held accountable.

It is the UK way.
Wes Streeting and Louis Appleby should go to prison over this. It's a massive scandal and they covered it up. They knew what they were doing restricting access to care and they did it anyways because of politics.

If Jeff Bezos could afford to spend $75 million on the Melania movie & $500 million for a yacht to sail off to his $55 million wedding to give his wife a $5 million ring, please don't tell me he needed to fire one-third of the Washington Post staff.

Democracy dies in oligarchy.

The government gutting free health care, education, arts and heritage: sorry lads, we need this money to preserve British values.

When people talk waftily about 'defending traditional British values', I always wonder what British values they're actually talking about. Because it doesn't seem to be queuing, big breakfasts, morris dancing and peasant revolts.

It mostly seems like they mean racism.

"A Labour Government headed by a human rights lawyer wants to protect councils that fail to meet their legal responsibilities to some of the nation’s most vulnerable young people. It wants to do so by ending the statutory right of parents to challenge wrongful decisions made by faceless officials."
Is this really why Labour MPs think they were elected: to strip some of the most vulnerable children in the country of their right to a decent start in life?

My @theipaper.com column on looming SEND reforms inews.co.uk/opinion/pare...
Parents of SEND children should fear what Starmer is planning
This Government seems intent on shredding the rights of the vulnerable
