As it turns out, booktok is much much bigger and way way harder to replicate in person. Online communities are real communities and when TikTok goes away…well we’re gonna see what happens the hard way I fear.
There’s a small bookshop “adult scholastic book fair” at a local brewery

They vastly misunderstood the demand

My child trying to convince me to buy a specific CD player so he can play his “MP3” CD so he can record it to his tape player so he can make a tape to put his voice on is going be the end of me today. And most likely tomorrow.

He has 3 other cd players that apparently won’t work for this mission.

162 years ago, 38 Dakota men were hung in the largest mass execution in our nation’s history.

The sacrifice of these riders reminds us to recommit to accountability and healing for the Dakota people.

There’s a guy in my town selling “Leftover glitter from retail design project” on a pallet that’s 4’ x 4’ x 11’ and I’ve never been more tempted in my life.

Great images showing the 40% pollution reduction in Paris thanks to bike lanes & traffic changes. It works and people in Paris are loving it! #ShareGoodNewsToo
Es alucinante cómo ha bajado la contaminación en París en 15 años. Anne Hidalgo lo ha llenado todo de carriles bici y no sólo ha reducido la contaminación en un 40%, sino que ha sido reelegida.

This is us in the fan aisle at Menards.
A mom just came in SO EXCITED to find a map store bc her son would LOVE it.
She tries to be coy. "My son is... Really into maps. Real special kid."

I'm like, ma'am, this is a map store. Half my customers are on the spectrum. I have a trains and transit section. You're among friends.

My mom just told me my kid has sensory autism issues because I’m not consistent how’s your day going.

I really did not expect to have arguments about my kids music this early in his life. 7 years old and blasting Smokin in the Boys Room. This might be the end of me.

Hey Minneapolis St. Paul

My autistic kid needs a haircut. Are there any hairdressers in the area that can do this kind of cut?

He’s extremely afraid, very sensitive to having his head touched and basically thinks he’s dying when we try to do a haircut.

Since we have to have 50 million social accounts to exist in this hellscape, I’m at least glad I get to build this from the ground up. The way that Threads has all your insta peeps right there…it’s sorta awkward.
