When hypnotized, you're often calm & relaxed, but above all, FOCUSED... Usually on the words of the hypnotist. If you've ever been reading a good book & lost track of time, that's the same phenomenon

A hypnotic suggestion that tells you to cover up your stress & feel calm despite what's boiling under the surface can cause more harm than good. Hypnosis can help with work stress, but a hypnotized person won't drift through endless workdays in blissful blankness

Generally, a subject will know they're hypnotized. It is possible to hypnotize someone covertly, but that's a complicated mess of ethics and consent. It CAN be done, but in many situations SHOULDN'T be.

Play safe and do the right thing.

Unintended consequences often take the form of secondary and tertiary effects, rather than primary ones. It can be helpful to think about the potential ripple effects of decisions when considering the safety/risk profile of an activity or scene.

Something that reliably breaks a scene for me is being told (or it being implied) I don’t have a choice. Of course I have a choice. I chose to follow you. If you don’t see or value that, and feel like you need to take it by force or trickery… then you don’t understand me well enough to be in charge.

Remember, consent is the most important thing to learn. Be it in kink, roleplay, daily life things or in general. Learning to give and revoke consent can be hard, but is also the most freeing thing you can do to empower yourself.

When hypnotizing someone
Using text
It's good
To keep the lines short
Because it helps with pacing
And also
Because short phrases
Are easy to understand
Easy to follow
Without losing focus
And it's focus
That makes it work

This is your regular reminder to keep therapy out of your play. If you're doing hypnosis to SOLVE or FIX something, you're probably causing harm. Recreational hypnosis is fun - everyone should try it. But don't do therapy unless you're a therapist, and don't mix work with play

If an observer can’t tell by looking whether a (public) scene is safe or consensual, that’s an issue independent of whether or not it’s actually safe and consensual.

I think everyone should be encouraged to speak up when there’s uncertainty because the alternative is a community where people don’t.

It’s generally bad for the community when people get punished for bringing up legitimate concerns, even really awkwardly.

If you’re going to do any kind of edge play, you should be very meticulous about boundaries and limits.

Speak like a cryptic hag spinning a deal with your subject, intent obscured by a bunch of noise, but still readable with sufficient focus.

Get them invested, but do not outpace them too quickly. Save that for the drop.

"I say do anything to my hypnotist cause I like cnc"

Please don't do that, you're literally opening yourself up to abusive hypnotists and even if the tist enjoys that also, it's 'CONSENSUAL' non consent for a reason.

Give us what you like, lend us your weaknesses, don't gamble with your mind

Luckily, the instructions for going into trance are given to you by the hypnotist. When they say "focus on my voice" you don't need to wonder what you should do. That said, if you have your own method for improving your focus, you're allowed to improvise and interpret the instructions

Risky play isn't more "powerful."

A sense of danger makes you subconsciously hold back. Hypnosis isn't all you expected it to be? I know why.

Practice & develop your agency. Learn about safety. Listen to hypnotists that you trust

That's how you get a great "OMG what did they do to me" session

Deep in trance, you'll probably still be aware of your surroundings. You're always aware during hypnosis, though as you improve in skill, your memories of the session may leave out unimportant details that don't matter -- things like reality and such.

I think there's a problem where a lot of subs want to be hypnotized, but are too shy to ask the people they trust to hypnotize them and there are also a lot of doms who want to hypnotize certain friends, but don't want to ask them, to not come off as pushy.

What helped me learn to trust was learning & practicing saying "no." Once I knew that I could ignore suggestions that were hurtful, dangerous, or icky, I was able to let go & fully accept the suggestions that weren't (without any hesitation)

Seek out files (& partners) that teach & practice agency

Hypnosis feels amazing, and playing with a partner you mesh well with can feel addictive. Enjoy that feeling, but also be careful. Take things slow and play safely enough that you'll still be growing that same partnership years from now. It's worth it!

The details of how "deep" you felt during a session can quickly fade, leaving behind only memories of the "less deep" moments. Keep your motivation by keeping a trance journal.

Hypnosis does not require being relaxed, just focused. You can be hypnotized while exercising, doing chores, etc

Getting bored? If you're working with a live hypnotist, they can change things up to match your mood. With a pre-recorded file? Yeah no

Maybe it's just your mood for that day, or maybe you really need a different technique. Keep looking for styles that match what you need

If you have a really intense hypnotic experience, don't worry if your next session doesn't feel like that. You can be deeply hypnotized and feel completely normal. Every session is its own experience, so comparisons aren't usually meaningful
