✨ you may not have heard of me, but you’ve def heard my work
Sometimes you gotta consolidate your energy to move forward.

I'm shutting down my studio brand THUD as its own thing, moving everything to my company The License Lab. The studio is still alive.

Just a quick update for those of you who might want an update about this sort of thing.

Stoked. Onward!

And 60 seconds into this video they stopped to roll their own ad "if YOU would like to have your audio professionally mastered..." 🤡 THE MIND BOGGLES.
So called "professional" audio YouTubers... with ground hum in their VO mic.

The Music Dreams Industrial Complex™ is alive and well, sorry to say.

Was good to catch up with @mattboudreauaudio.bsky.social and his excellent @workingclassaudio.bsky.social podcast after so many years (how has it been 8?!)

If you're interested in what I've been up to in the 5 yrs since I've moved to Seattle, THUD, The License Lab, we dig into a bunch of that here.

my microphone choices in the studio these days are much more about what TYPE of mic (LDC v SDC, ribbon, dyn) than brand or model

it's pretty rare for a mic to be completely wrong, almost anything can work, just get to the music

if I hear one more soloed kick drum for an hour while picking mics 🥵

I am covered in goosebumps, looking back at billions of years of light. The latest from the new Vera Rubin telescope, as it happens. Absolutely incredible. What a time to be alive.

making your own music on your own time and releasing it whenever you like with beautiful artwork by people you love is a decent substitute for fucking it all off and going to live in the woods

Canceled this week my Soundcloud Pro account that I've had for over 15 years. I would encourage all my writers and co-creators to the do the same. This is unconscionable and unforgivable.

THIS THIS THIS
A reminder that every small bit of good you do - whether it be putting art into the world, helping a friend or stranger, donating to a good cause, or just listening to someone who needs to vent - offsets all the evil in the world just a little bit. And sometimes that's just what the world needs.

One advantage to having multiple YouTube accounts is you can see if a YouTube channel has hidden your comments.

Can confirm : Sweetwater is hiding comments critical of Behringer on their video yesterday.

Behringer sucks. Sweetwater sucks. Fellow musicians, do better than support these jerks.
