Minister, hunchback, religious hillbilly, he/him. Disability, Christianity, politics, miscellany. Any political statements are made in my personal capacity.
Praying for our American neighbours, particularly vulnerable people and the first responders and essential workers who will be outside.
A sprawling and potentially devastating winter storm is projected to slam a massive swath of the country through the weekend. Heavy snow, life-threatening cold and dangerous ice accumulation are all in the forecast.

MAGA and Vichy Canadians two days ago: "The United States MUST own Greenland. As the Dear Leader says, nothing else will suffice."

Today: "Greenland is an economic basket case. The Dear Leader got everything without having to own it! Boom! Art of the Deal!"

Perhaps it's time for the US Ambassador to be called in to meet with Canada's Ministers of Foreign Affairs, National Defence, and Veterans' Affairs to explain the President's lie that NATO troops in Afghanistan "stayed a little back, off the front lines."

Meeting today. Participant says they are going to Quebec City in February to "do the Bonhomme Carnaval."

Awkward pause.

Another participant: "The Bonhomme is the mascot - there's a person in there. The winter carnival is the Carnaval de Québec."

It is amazing how much conservative Canadian accounts criticize and mock boomers. It would seem wise to make some effort to win over voters who are probably the most likely to show up at the polls.

"As long as I live, I don’t think I’ll get over this pure, dumb fact: Trump told his fans he had to blow up the liberal order because it was the only way to secure the very benefits the liberal order was already bringing us." www.thebulwark.com/p/trump-butc...
Trump Butchers the Golden Goose
He’s convinced he has to kill liberalism and democracy to realize their benefits.

US Homeland Security, which only posts on Elon Musk platforms, has a breathless post that anti-ICE protesters are "now going after the dogs." A kennel employee wrote "ICE Out" on the feed chart of a Customs & Border Protection dog.

So, I have news for DHS. Dogs can't read.

Let me call my brother in law, who was in 1st Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment in Kandahar, and get his opinion on how he "stayed a little back, off the front lines."
Trump on NATO: "I've always said, will they be there if we ever needed them? That's really the ultimate test. I'm not sure of that. We've never needed them. They'll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan and this or that. And they did. They stayed a little back, off the front lines."

MAGA accounts are doing their usual "5D chess" and "Art of the Deal" victory dance. But Trump has caused permanent damage to the US relationship with Western allies, and traumatized the people of Greenland, to get what would have been given to him months ago if the US negotiated like adults.

You can tell the Prime Minister's speech yesterday went over well in Canada because the Opposition's influencer accounts are simultaneously losing their minds about grocery prices. It's like a memo was circulated.
January 22, 2026 at 1:30 AM
Glenn Beck going on about Trump's Davos address being "the most powerful speech perhaps ever given by a President to the world." I'm wondering if I am really a visitor from an alternate Earth, or Beck is, as I did not come away with this impression.

Americans certainly have a lot of opinions on Canadian trade with China and Qatar, while not mentioning that the United States trades with... China and Qatar.

Vichy Canadians running around with their hair on fire that Canada may have antagonized the US President. It doesn't matter what we do. We have to go through this for years to come and can't keep trying to predict how we will be perceived by a narcissistic bully who lives in a dreamscape of his own.

MAGA podcasters criticizing journalists who "don't have the faintest idea what they’re talking about when discussing the issue" of Greenland crack me up. As if these guys knew anything about Greenland before the Dear Leader got it into his head to annex it.
January 21, 2026 at 8:28 PM
All of this, of course, does not take into account that Trump could wake up tomorrow and decide that the US will, in fact, use force to take Greenland.
Right on cue, here are the push alerts from the 3 major newspapers lmao
January 21, 2026 at 6:54 PM
You know, if journalists informed me on a daily basis that I had missed important events, speeches, etc., I would probably make an effort to keep up with the news.
Mike Johnson tells me that he hasn’t seen Trump saying in Davos “what we have gotten out of NATO is nothing”

Trump just keeps building his case at the US Supreme Court that tariffs are only put in place for reasons of "national security."

If I could find the clip from Masters of the Air, I would post the scene where the Stalag Luft III administration ask the American officers for a list of Jewish prisoners of war.
January 21, 2026 at 3:24 AM
Vichy Canadians, realizing that they are losing the battle for Canadian hearts and minds, are now resorting to posting huffily that "everyone knows that the US will not invade Greenland and Canada." No one knows this. What have the last few days taught us?
January 20, 2026 at 9:21 PM
As Stephen Miller says, Denmark is a tiny country with a tiny military and a tiny economy. He neglected to mention that part of that tiny economy is a whole pile of US Treasury bonds.

For some reason I feel like taking a drive east of here to the monument marking the site where a small British and Canadian force beat the pants off one of the largest American invasion armies of the War of 1812, ending the US attempt to annex Canada. Crysler's Farm, November 11, 1813.
Trump posts an image depicting Canada and Greenland as part of the United States

I watched Man of Steel and I commend the film makers for including the Canadian flag in the scene at North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD), reminding no one in particular of Canada's key role in defending the continent.

An American on X says the US should find Icelanders or Americans of Icelandic heritage to assert a claim to Greenland. My spouse is Icelandic-Canadian, and I can assure you that most Icelanders and Western Icelanders (Icelanders in North America) would tell this guy to get bent.

"If the Danes and Greenlanders had just gone along, we would all be better off." Yes, and if the Czechs had not pushed back against the Reich, we wouldn't have needed the Munich Conference, would we? Why are we giving aggressors the benefit of the doubt?
