Thanks, blueskyroast.com. I aspire to live up to this description.
Dear TikTok, it’s a video of a spacewalk. Is it really necessary to add a warning? “The actions in this video are performed or supervised by professionals. Do not attempt.”

I recently saw someone suggest you can tell the difference between Christians who grew up singing “Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world” and those who grew up singing “Jesus Loves Me.” But…🧵

Here’s the audio version of the Epiphany sermon I ended up preaching on peace and Venezuela. In my relatively liberal ELCA congregations, I had several people thank me for it and one express concern it was too political. pod.link/1669098407/e...

Perhaps the “fixation” is because the President said multiple times, “We're going to run the country” and as Secretary of State Rubio himself said, “The 47th President of the United States is not a game player.

Well, I suppose as Packers preseason games go, this one wasn’t terrible.

Well, I had a perfectly nice Epiphany sermon written two days ago. I’ve now scrapped 90% of it and started over to talk about Venezuela. Praying folks still hear Gospel and don’t close down if it sounds political.

I've written to my representative and senators to express my vehement opposition to the United States attempting to "Run the Country" of Venezuela as President Trump just said our nation would do. Arresting Maduro may be good for the world, perhaps even legally justifiable.

Lord,
Before time began, You were love.
We long for Your life and light.
Teach us how to more fully love You.
Amen.

A blessing for our fourth week of Advent.

My 2.5 year old is preparing for today’s Christmas program by enthusiastically singing at breakfast, “Go, tell it on the mountain! That’s where Jesus Christ is born!” Some of the nativity story’s geographical details remain a bit hazy.

2 Timothy 4:13 is one of my all-time favorite Bible verses: “When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, also the books, and above all the parchments.”

Spotify Wrapped for the church sermon podcast is fun, but the best part is the interesting selection of audiobooks listened to by the same audience.

“Even though you are sometimes unloving, unlovable, and often unbearable, the church, by baptism, promises to put up with you to the end and, at your end, relights the Baptism Candle, posting it by your coffin, as we give you back to the God who gave you to us.”

A possible mystery: Former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue died today and news coverage and older articles mention a memoir he wrote called “Jersey City to America’s Game” possibly coauthored by Michael MacCambridge but I can’t find it anywhere. No product listings, no ISBN. Does it exist?

@revjoelle.bsky.social I’m guessing you’re not at the region 5 gender justice training day, but you were lifted up in Bishop Anne Edison-Albright’s sermon.

2025 Flucke family trick-or-treating in Port Washington. This year is the first time ever in my adult life that I’ve actually worn a costume for trick-or-treating, and I went with the most obvious choice for a Lutheran pastor. Christin said I didn’t fit the PBS kids theme. #trickortreat🎃 #halloween
