You cannot have a functioning classroom under these conditions. As I've said before, classroom surveillance has been a much bigger and more damaging change to campus than wokeness.
Cornell is cancelling a distinguished professor's classes on Gaza and suspending him because of the complaints of a student who previously served in Israel's military surveillance agency and was literally recording the comments of other students in class and deliberately derailing discussion.

A former student now medical student, Luke Duignan, published his Research In Medicine project (rare) on the potential substitution between frailty index and allostatic load. AL is a nice variable for considering the burden of SDoH in popns.

While this is a great initiative we know that downstream food provision does not address food insecurity in the population.

New article spearheaded by James LaChaud at Ohio State on the At Home/Chez Soi data. Estimated lower mortality in the HF group but not stat sig. My read on it is that in Canada we do a good job keeping people alive in the long run, but details here:

The academic pages of Reddit are full of stories of PhD students whose offers have been rescinded due to pulled NIH funding.

Western is stepping up and offering expedited admissions and excellent funding to these deserving students:

Just to be clear, this is a violation of the fundamental ethical principle in clinical trial design called "equipoise."

Equipoise means that no-one is exposed to excess risk just to test the therapy. That's specifically *why* vaccine trials don't use placebo arms.

Ethical violation as POLICY.

NIH has rescinded its scientific integrity policy. Hard to see this as anything other than clearing the way for shoddy research on things like vaccines. Regardless of the rationale, it's bad news for public health.

I have been a massive beneficiary of the hard work of my staff and students, several of whom are not from Canada originally. I think it has been a real strength of our system that we've been able to welcome these people.

Between an Australian politician and the Yellowstone series (?!) of TV shows, the Dutton name sure is carrying a lot of baggage these days.
Dutton would cut 41 000 public service jobs… radically reduce essential services…and hire private consultants for twice the cost and half the commitment.
