This is partly why I’m not quite fully invested in using AI just yet.

Far better than ordering from the big river, although some caution is advisable. Lucky for me I did really enjoy this.

The manuscript is back from the editor, which means I can go through the edits and then get both print and ebook ARCs up within the next week or two. So if you're one of those awesome review folks and you'd like an early read, please hit me up! Pre-orders will be up soon too.
Huge thanks to John Durgin for reading an early draft of THE RISE: Tales From The Gulp 3, and saying kind things about it. Coming in February 2026, pre-orders up soon.

Once again, I'd like to point out that an edit button on a platform like this is a terrible idea because anyone quoting or even liking your post can be manipulated. If you make a mistake, just copy, delete, paste, correct and post again. It's really simple.

This comment implies that I, even after watching this half a dozen times, have any notion as to how this works. But holy hell that’s an amazing skill!
You know when Terry Pratchett said 'It doesn't stop being magic just because you know how it works'? Yeah, he meant this.

Don’t post about it. Don’t share it.

Hi! I'm Alan, a horror writer from Tasmania. Talking Scared called me "The Lord of Weird Australia" and This is Horror called me "Australia's master of literary darkness." The graphic below shows all my stuff and how it interacts. I hope you'll give something there a go. More here: alanbaxter.com.au

Hey friends, a spot of friendly advice from a Bluesky elder (I was in the first 1% of users) - this place got good because early on we used a policy of:

Do not engage, do not dunk, just block.

The block here is powerful and super effective. It starves them out. Nothing grinds them more.

It's been a while since we visited the weird harbour town of Gulpepper. But now we're going back. The third volume in the Tales From The Gulp is coming in February 2026. Another five tales of horror. Are you ready for The Rise?

Genuinely surprise this was a UK thing and not an Aussie thing. I guess we figured that one out long ago.

When you say "AI is absolute shit" people will say "that shows you don't understand AI and how it's supposed to be used" and I will say "I'm not talking about AI in some imaginary rainbow world where it's used right and not fecklessly monetized, I'm talking about our world, fucknuts."
