I fully agree in the beginning is the weakest part of Simone's run. Ironically after she was fired and brought back is when the comic had its strongest stuff.

Oh, you know there was editorial meddling all over the place in every Batgirl run sadly. Not just Simone's. I just enjoy the backhalf of Simone's Batgirl run, then the first half (save the Court of Owl tie-in).

I would, but just know the shady stuff behind the comic. And basically, it was all dropped after the run ended (save the costume) until DC had Sean Murphy redesign Babs and give us-- um THAT costume that Heroes in Crisis made infamous. Um.. yeah.

I feel the best issue of the entire run was the Batgirl Endgame one-shot that Bengal drew. Best use of the cellphone to give us "dialogue".

The biggest problem with Burnside becomes the shadow of Cameron Stewart upon it. But I digress that's like Chuck Dixon over any 90s to 00s era Batman or BatFam comic.
That and a few elements of the run have aged like milk (due to DC rehashing them). It did give Babs some things she sorely needed.

And love it or hate it, Burnside explode for a reason. Babs Tarr helped bring some life and fun back into the artistic side of the DC universe and it was such a breath of fresh air at the time

Every major character got the perfect ending. Ava got her freedom from the shackles of Arlon County and the Crowders. Wynn somehow beat the odds and escaped (the weasely prick). Boyd continues to repeat his mistakes. And Raylan confrontation with Boon.
It was just perfection.
