I just like that Bruce gives Cass that look of, "SERIOUSLY young lady! I wasted so much time on this case!" We don't even see Cass's response to that look more, "Meh" and there she goes. Adding to the antagonism that would blow up in #50.

That way the whole payoff, when Cass confronts the Doll Man, is all the more satisfying. Because you know when Leonardi has Cass looking like this you know Doll Man's in a world of hurt.

Likewise, I do love that Cass uses the bats in the underground lair to ultimately find Doll Man's house. It's a nice batty motif.

I still love this issue because it takes Cass out of her comfort zone. Something I wish more writers could have done with the character. Have her tackle foes of the mind besides of the fist.

So close to being good, but it's just missing some polish (unlike Puckett or eventually Gabrych). Likewise, Cass's motivation in this.

Next, we get probably the weakest part of the issue for me. I say that in it feels very much subdued and damn it could go a lot creepier. I mean it is seeing Suki in full doll make-up and attire. But...

Then we're introduced to the antagonist for the issue, the Doll Man. Not to be confused with his edgier younger brother the Doll-Maker.

Like Puckett, writer Dylan Horrocks focuses on the outside players before introducing Cass. The issue starts by introducing model Suki Simich coming off a normal day but you know it's Gotham and that ain't gonna last as she's given this in the mail.
