Why the need to take our coffee for a walk - and drink it from a paper cup with a plastic lid?

Is it not much nicer to sit down and relax for a few minutes?

Financial barriers to environmental litigation are against the law, because protecting the environment is an important public interest.

The government now wants to make it super expensive (>€100,000) for ordinary people to go to court to protect the environment

Imagine if your house was burgled and you had to pay €100,000 to bring the perpetrator to justice. Nobody would think this is right.

This is exactly what the state wants to do when it breaks the law relating to the environment.

If you think this is unfair or wrong then read on ⬇

Without the cost protections afforded by the Aarhus convention we would not have been in a position to challenge the decision to slab over and destroy our river Bride. It would already be underground. The state conceded our case. They were in the wrong and they knew it. #cork
The Government is consulting on rules to cap legal costs when you go to court and hold the state to account for breaking environmental law, they want you to pay €100s of thousands

If you think this is wrong, make your views known by emailing aarhus@dcee.gov.ie by 15 January

Legacy media scrambling to justify criminal behaviour is utter cowardice.

Disappearing clouds

Clouds are vital to life and cooling the planet

Of all solar radiation reflected back to space, clouds are responsible for about 70%.

But the belts of shiny white clouds we need most are declining between 1.5 and 3% per decade

Clouds are vital to life—but many are becoming wispy ghosts. Here's how to see the changes above us
As a scholar researching clouds, I have spent much of my time trying to understand the economy of the sky. Not the weather reports showing scudding rainclouds, but the deeper logic of cloud movements,...
