"Annoyed, but dealing with it," then, now and always

Appreciator of Felis catus
I know Virginia is honoring Tony Bennett next Saturday, but this is a heck of a tribute to its former coach tonight.

Greetings from Tenleytown, where American (13-13, 6-7 Patriot) looks to snap a four-game slide as Army (10-16, 4-9) pays a visit to the District.

2 p.m. tip at Bender Arena, where American lost its last two home outings in excruciating, last-second fashion.

Denver's allowed just three goals in its first two games. The Pioneers have a new cast on defense, but the basic math of "it's us seven" remains sound.

The names dotting Denver’s defense have changed. The math the Pioneers count on every year has not.

Mason guard Jahari Long on the team's defensive issues: "I think we have to pay more attention to detail. It's really just toughness. The last two games, we've struggled guarding one-on-one. I think that's been the main problem. We haven't been able to keep guys in front of us."

I saw that release this afternoon and thought to myself "seems awfully early."

But whatever discount there is should be welcome by fans (for obvious reasons) and by the school (even seats sold at half-price generate more revenue than empty seats). And they need more people for a better environment.
Hey @d1scourse.bsky.social, not sure if you're into sports business stories but it's insane that GW is already doing season ticket renewals on Feb 13. Plus they're cutting ticket prices for the cheaper seats. Not that I'd know anything about those...

Castro is listed as questionable today. Not sure he plays, but from what I understand he's getting closer.

Mason's won two of its last three in Foggy Bottom. Lost two years ago on MLK Day.
Was surprised to see Vegas has GW -2.5. Is Castro coming back? I believe Skinn has won his last three games at the Smith Center.

Greetings from Foggy Bottom.

George Mason (21-4, 9-3 Atlantic 10) has crossed the Potomac in search of a second consecutive season sweep of George Washington (14-11, 5-7).

Patriots have dropped two of three, including Tuesday's ugly loss at Richmond. GW snapped a four-game skid Tuesday.

As much as Towson has struggled, it is just a game and a half out of double-bye in the CAA tournament with five games to go.

Granted, it has to jump over six teams to get there. That's a big ask. But it plays four of them the rest of the way (at Monmouth, at Drexel, Campbell, at Stony Brook).

Greetings from the Baltimore 'burbs, where Towson (13-12, 5-7 CAA) welcomes Stony Brook (15-10, 7-5) as both teams begin the final third of league play.

Towson's chances of a top-four seed in the CAA tournament are already slim. A loss tonight would basically finish them off on that front.

I chortled at this.
What a win on rivalry night
FINAL: Maryland 77, Iowa 70.

Andre Mills scores a career-high 24 points and Diggy Coit adds 19 for the Terrapins (10-14, 3-10 Big Ten), who have won consecutive games for the first time since November.

Bennett Stirtz had 32 points for the Hawkeyes (18-6, 8-5), who take their first Quad 3 loss.

Hadn't thought of Adam Woodbury in a long, long while.
Well, Adam Woodbury did try to gouge Melo Trimble's eye out...
When I think of history-rich Big Ten hardwood rivalries that automatically warrant corporate sponsor-approved commemoration, Iowa-Maryland is at or near the top of the list.

Said no one.

Greetings from the Queen City of the Paint Branch Drainage Basin.

Maryland (9-14, 2-10 Big Ten), sitting in 14th place and a half-game up in the race to avoid #TuesdayInChicago, welcomes Iowa (18-5, 8-4) in for a 6 p.m. tip.

Hawkeyes won the first meeting 83-64 on Dec. 6.
