Oh, gods. One I picked out on my own, and one I spotted due to following you.

Trader Joe's has some fine alcohol. Vodka of the Gods can hold its own against Tito's. Their scotch blends are delicious. There's no glory in holding to prestige brands, and there's no shame in liking what you like, even if it's affordable.
This place needs some Innocuous Discourse pronto. Quote this with a take that’s not political or aggressive

I love my Vespa. This was my father's, he used for tootling between home and work in HI. He shipped it from there to ID, and when he died I received it in MN. It's not the classic-looking Vespa, but it has a motorcycle engine and gets me (and my wife) everywhere I want to go, with élan.

That's phenomenal!

I love things that would be inappropriate to share here, but I've pursued them wholeheartedly. They have motivated me to write over 300 stories, self-publish seven books, learn 3D modeling in Daz Studio, run a writing contest for four years, and host one season of a podcast. I have a shadowy legacy.

I love diving deep into a topic. A few years ago I was all about learning everything I could about North Korea. For the last year-and-a-half, however, I've been studying Scandinavian myth and runes, and now I'm teaching myself Old Norse.

I love travel. I hope we get to do it again, but first Toki has to "transition," which we're doing everything to prevent, weirdly. And the global theater is in such a state of upheaval, I wonder where it would even be safe to go. But I love travel.

And hopefully day 1 of the citizens' overthrow of the Iranian government. Big day!

Well, obviously I love my wife. I knew Rebecca would be good for me, and I've tried to be better for her. We travel well, we solve mysteries together, and we harbor dangerous ideas.

The cartoon is her response to "What is best in life, Conan?"

I have a few favorite authors: Gene Wolfe (with whom I briefly corresponded), Kurt Vonnegut, and Shirley Jackson. I'm building up collections of their work, so that whenever I have a question about writing and composition, I can reread one of their books and learn how they managed it.

Thank you! I grilled this for Mom, and it turned out so well she got a little possessive, convinced the neighbors were going to ask for some.

There's a creek about eight blocks south of me, and I love it. I don't love that it can literally be shut off by the city, but otherwise it feels like a natural environment. I used to go here to meditate until the residents of the area called the cops on me.

I love cooking. I have to remind myself of this. It feels like a chore but it usually comes out great and I always feel rewarded.

Pictured:
– cedar-planked orange salmon
– potstickers, hand-rolled by me
– a full grill for my wife's company party
– camping breakfast cooked in iron skillet

I love my kitty. Toki's 18 years old and diabetic. His "sister" was put down June '24—he lost a companion but gained much more attention and affection as we try to keep him comfortable.

LIKES:
– the radiator under the window seat
– signing his clumped urine with a paw print
– fish and chicken

A good guiding influence for January and the new year:

For ever Like this post gets, I'll talk about something I love. It's important to remember these things, place your energy where it does the most good.
Yes, this seems like a good activity for the first week of January.

For every like, I'll talk about something I love. Play along if it soothes your soul and reminds you that beauty exists.
Oh! This is lovely!

So, for every like I’ll talk about something we love. I saw this posted by a forest creature and thought it was nice. Post your own if you wanna! ^^

Exquisite timing: UMN is switching to AP (from CMOS) for its style. I'm guiding my department in what's changing. #AmEditing

Oh, my twitchy nervous system can calm down. Apparently I was lacking a dark-and-gritty reboot.

Helpful reminder for me to establish the first year of publication in my footer.js file (current date is automatic).
Annual reminder to cross "update copyright year" off your to do list! 😃 Note the work’s FIRST year of publication, not what year it currently is. At most, update the date RANGE. Always include that first date!
What WILL you do with this extra time!? www.copyrightlaws.com/copyright-sy...
The International Copyright Symbol
Many countries, like the U.S. and Canada don't require use of the copyright symbol © and copyright notice year to protect works, but doing so has benefits.

The good thing about bleeding online so much is that when I need to go back and fill up my date book so it's not just a bunch of blank pages, the chronicle of my life is really well documented. Like having seen Frankenstein, Nuremburg, Wake Up Dead Man, Spirited, Elf, Night Shift last month.

Took a long walk out to a Chinese restaurant, laughed with my wife most of the way.

Came back, watched 'Roofman,' a strangely sweet but incredibly tense movie with Channing Tatum.

Still can't shake the ick of this morning. Social media makes trolls of everyone.
