Steadily working my way through Divine Divinity and it reminds me a lot of Sacred. Increasingly curious if Larian will return to this weird combo of ARPG and CRPG with the new game or stick to the turn-based combat that's been so successful for them with OS and BG3.

You cannot overstate how startling it is to see a politician just say the thing with clarity and poise. No fearful hemming. No overwrought qualifying down til it’s meaningless. No lingering sense that there is a loyalty to a donor class or an ideology of stasis that they’d never admit to.
Mamdani: "I am in support of abolishing ICE. What we see is an entity that has no interest in fulfilling its stated reason to exist. We're seeing a government agency that is supposed to be enforcing some kind of immigration law, but instead what it's doing is terrorizing people."

Still thinking about the finale of TBT. Honestly, if they want to get more people in theaters to see it, they should maybe post *that scene* on socials sooner rather than later.
January 20, 2026 at 5:40 AM
My other big thought watching TBT was that when I was younger, my esteem of most movies was weighted towards the sharpness of their dialogue and what they convey via their script vesus nowadays I am so much more prone to be moved by the awesome power of imagery alone.

I've harped on congressional war powers for a long time and we do need to fix all that, but threatening to invade Greenland while ranting at Norway about the Nobel Peace Prize and imposing trade sanctions on NATO is more the kind of thing you can only fix by not having a literally insane president.

It is so funny that they greenlit a trilogy of legacy sequels to 28 Days Later off the back of Cillian Murphy's Oppenheimer hype and have now made not one but two of the best zombie movies I've ever seen

The entire Rebuild movie series is justified by that bit where Mari reverses the Eva by leaning back in her chair, propping up her elbow, and turning the holographic steering wheel with the heel of her hand

The Star Wars crowd does talk about Kennedy being replaced every other week but if this is true it's going to be *incredible* when that Mando movie flops.
Dave Filoni and Lywen Brennan will reportedly replace Kathleen Kennedy as the new co-presidents of Lucasfilm

• Dave Filoni will oversee all creative development

• Lywen Brennan will oversee executive duties

• Announcement is expected to be made in a couple weeks

My contribution to this discourse is that imo 'good' endings release you from the story being told and there's just not as much to say about that because you are now Free to move on with your life.
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc
