Many thanks to @renvsren.bsky.social & @curlsbot.bsky.social! I bought a flaxseed gel and a silk bonnet. My curls are hold so much better now, compared to when I was using a coconut oil based curl cream and no bonnet! And I just spray with water, add a tiny bit more gel, and they bounce right back.🙌

Have been working on a new hair type quiz since last week and have gone down a serious rabbithole researching the science of curly hair. Which has led me to a new bizarre theory literally no one asked for.

Reclassified mineral oil as a "light oil" and removed the "petroleum oils" category altogether because my research has shown those ingredients can be good for hair. Probably demonized bc they are cheap.

Fixed a bug on some category pages like the one for sulfates that was causing references not to show.

Added new ingredient to the DB: Sulfated Castor Oil, not a sulfate, but castor oil that's undergone a process to make it water soluble

Did my first user interview today! User, a hairstylist, uses CurlsBot with her clients. She told me she wasn't happy with the new ads and sidebar. I have made both less obtrusive since then!

Minor tasks today: Added a couple of Curl Keeper products to the database, fixed accidental classification of esters as waxes and Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate as non-anionic (it's anionic), added more non-Amazon links to products, adjusted porosity scoring for products

Unfun fact: much of the content in CurlsBot is from json files. Someday maybe I'll add a proper CMS. I'm looking at Payload.
