If lawmakers genuinely care about young people's wellbeing, they should invest in education, support parents with better tools, and address the actual root causes of harm online. What they shouldn't do is wage war on privacy itself. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

»Nein, ich habe bis gestern noch für eine Zeitung aus einem Ebola Gebiet im Kongo berichtet. Ist so eine unsinnige Regel nach der Rückkehr, hilft wahrscheinlich sowieso nicht.«

Ever wondered about IP addresses in TV shows? They are build to avoid harming legitimate owners. Either they are local, private, or invalid. But the clou is when they are legitimate but owned by a TV network.

Les montres indiquent l’heure, mais sans jamais montrer le temps même, à qui l’imminent passage à l’heure d’hiver ne fera ni chaud ni froid.
Il ne se rendra pas compte de la valse des aiguilles de cette nuit.

The richest man on earth owns X.

The second richest man on earth is about to acquire TikTok and his family could soon own both Paramount and Warner Bros.

The third richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

The fourth richest man owns The Washington Post.

Informed debate based on reliable information is a cornerstone of any healthy democracy.

False or distorted information online can spread faster than ever, shaping opinions and undermining trust.

On this day in 1956, as Soviet tanks took the streets of Budapest, the brave people of Hungary rose up in defiance of oppression and foreign domination.

As Hungary remembers the heroes of the 1956 Revolution, let us also commemorate those who fight today for their freedom and their independence.🇭🇺

This morning, I was hit in the face by a baton.

I’m going to have a pretty gnarly bruise but we need to remember why this is happening: Trump and ICE are rounding up our neighbors, treating them as subhuman, and shipping them off to labor camps in foreign countries. It has to end.

Years ago, someone who interviewed me for a job asked the question, "What is the thing you know you should care about but you don't, so someone else needs to?" I cannot remember what I said, but it's a fantastic question that I'm thinking about a lot in our current Age of Overwhelm.

If it's not collected, it can't be abused, misused, or used for finical benefits
Yes, forcing users to upload documents for age verification is going to end very badly.

Collecting sensitive documents, like ID is an especially bad idea.

Do not collect shit that you do not need to collect, ever.

If it's not collected it can't be leaked.

That is all.

Open Source isn't going to help.

There's a way to invisibly compromise all software.

A perfect, self-replicating "sin" passed down for generations of compilers.

It's not just theoretical, and Ken Thompson showed us how.
