Por ejemplo, esta imagen de la zona central del cúmulo de Virgo muestra galaxias gigantes intercambiando materia. Detalles como éstos nos ayudarán a descifrar la evolución de las galaxias, incluyendo el rol (y posiblemente la naturaleza) de la materia oscura.
¡Pensar que tendremos una imagen como éstas, cubriendo todo el cielo visible desde el norte de Chile, cada tres días, durante los próximos 10 años! Será realmente una revolución en astronomía y traerá descubrimientos que aún no imaginamos.
