As the nation focused on New York City’s mayoral election and gubernatorial races in New Jersey & Virginia, there was an intergenerational movement of Black people, particularly millennial women, in small cities & rural towns shaking up local elections, too.

I’m editing an episode and our guest is Loretta Ross, one of the founders of the #ReproductiveJustice movement and I find myself not editing and just listening to her. She said “we fought but our fights weren’t fatal” and I just…I mean she preached a whole sermon in one sentence.

If you are doing okay right now, give money to food pantries. Pay the difference when somebody comes up short at the checkout. “Accidentally” make too much food and share with your neighbors. Folks are hurting.

One thing I love about this episode of #ReasonableDoubt episode is how the daughter is a not skinny darker skinned girl, darker than her parents with original black hair

It stood out to me bc a lot of times when I see daughters on black tv shows, they’re always skinny or light or wet and wavy hair

What I love most about this convo with one of my favorite people and keke partners @fsmith827.bsky.social is the ground we cover about college, from the political to personal. It’s thing I love most about #DemBlackMamas We don’t lose context. We always acknowledge the times we are in.

Watching #WakandaForever and the Homegoing scene followed by the montage of Chadwick Boseman with the wind still guts me. Then Angela Bassett’s monologue (and shoulders) in that UN scene….wheeewwww…i forgot how FIRE the opening minutes of this film are! Sorrow and grief followed by power and grace.
