Today we’re launching Open Climate Risk, a fully open option for U.S. building-level climate risk data. It’s unique because it allows you to see not only risk scores, starting with wildfire, but also the complete underlying dataset, methods, and codebase. carbonplan.org/research/cli...

The Times runs a glossy cover. The redactions remain. The networks stay intact.

This is about media protection, the immunity of the elite and why exposure doesn’t lead to accountability.

Scotland just announced a Bank Holiday for the day after our first football World Cup match in nearly 30 years. It’s a Monday. Nice.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

UK study, only made available after an FOI, predicts nothing good for the biodiversity of the entire island. It does gave a nice way to categorise probability though, so I’m going to use that in my own work. After all, these are smart people. assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/696e0e...

Ye see yon birkie, ca'd a lord,
Wha struts, an' stares, an' a' that;
Tho' hundreds worship at his word,
He's but a coof for a' that:
For a' that, an' a' that,
His ribband, star, an' a' that:
The man o' independent mind
He looks an' laughs at a' that.

So we are clear on this day when #RobertBurns is celebrated. He would have despised Tronald Dump.

Quietly pleased that I have gained the status of “Chartered Environmentalist. C.Env” Equally important is my 17 day practice streak on my learning to play the piano journey. You just switch on , no tuning of drones and chanters. However, enough piano. Thursday night is bagpipes and whisky night.

He’s clueless. Talking absolute shit.
Trump: "There are windmills all over Europe. There are windmills all over the place. And they are losers. One thing I've noticed is that the more windmills a country has, the more money that country loses, and the worse that country is doing. I haven't been able to find any wind farms in China."

My employers have decided to close on the Monday following Scotland’s first game against Haiti in the World Cup. Our game is at 2am in Scotland on the Monday . I think it’s a great move from a health and safety perspective.

It’s been clear to me for a long time that Tronald Dump would ruin the world cup. Scotland’s group opponents, Brazil, Haiti and Morocco are under travel bans, so fewer fans. So, when we win the group it’ll be less satisfying because I bet the other fans would dance and party with the tartan army.

Can we not give Tronald Dump a special Nobel Peace prize for the most peace ever , a colouring book of Greenland, and some crayons?

A fast moving coronal mass ejection (CME) means the northern lights may be visible overnight, and perhaps on Tuesday night too

The arrival time of the CME is uncertain, but aurora sightings are possible in northern Britain and perhaps in southern areas depending on cloud cover.

Sometimes I daydream about what the world could be like if we were just as clever, but a whole lot smarter. Capitalism, as practiced, is a death cult.
Making these things un-turn-off-able is an extremely fundamental core component of the entire industry. It is the same reason you cannot choose between buying yoghurt with single-use plastic or without it.

You cannot fabricate demand for a wasteful, harmful thing without making it mandatory
Dammit, tech companies. The only think I need to know about your awesome AI feature is how to turn it off.

Joanna Macy (1929–2025) taught that despair in the face of ecological crisis is a sign of care, not failure.

Through the Work That Reconnects, she helped people face grief together and turn it into agency — hope as a practiced relationship, not optimism about outcomes.
Joanna Macy, author and teacher who turned despair into connection and agency
For much of the late 20th century, environmental writing oscillated between alarm and reassurance. One strand emphasized catastrophe; another urged optimism. A smaller, more demanding tradition…

Intensive practice of an instrument, in my case it’s the Scottish small pipes, is very energising & draining at the same time. On a Thursday night in particular, I find a few large drams get me in the zone. Tonight’s dram is an #Ardbeg 10 year old. Bloody lovely, & played well as a result. Sgonneil.
