Posted on Twitter. The #akgov Dept. of Revenue doesn't have shredders like this; this is AI/CGI. According to the #akleg majorities press conference Saturday, the #akleg has retained a law firm to handle the Dept. of Revenue Subpoenas for oil and gas tax credits. Should be interesting

I always thought being a Wikipedia writer/participant would be an interesting and fun hobby
“Wikipedia is this economic anomaly. In many ways, it’s sort of magical that people will just volunteer without explicit economic incentives to create artifacts that are meant to share knowledge with everyone in the world”

Why is there no laugh emoji for when there is a funny or ridiculous post? I really want a laugh emoji 🤭 more for the ridiculous posts than the funny ones. Or at least give me an eye roll emoji.

#akleg hmu if you want some 150+ yo sourdough starter before you head home. My mom got it from some old guy in Tenakee in 1972 and he claimed it was pre U.S. purchase of Alaska from Russia (1867). So even if this old guy was exaggerating, it's at least as old as 1972, so 50+ years. Historic!

NOT FAIR that this is what I posted 12 years ago, when this year there's over a month to go. Guess I will keep chugging along.

In my personal life, many people don't know, but my son died 4 years ago on April 30. I haven't been able to read a book since then and I've always been a reader. I can't be in the dark. I can't listen to the radio, I mostly can't watch any videos. I have to have control over what I am exposed to

There is no "t" in across. Drives me nuts when people say "acrost." What region is that from?

I've never had any trouble leaving the U.S., my problems have always been reentering. No one has given me more shit than U.S. border guards. I'm like, "ARE YOU NOT GOING TO LET ME IN? I am a U.S. citizen and this is MY COUNTRY." If I was any sort of a brown person I would just stay put. Awful.
If you're critical of the US government and you are planning to cross the US border any time soon, today is a good day to review EFF's border search pocket guide: www.eff.org/document/eff...

The coolest thing I’ve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025.

This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.

In his first local town hall since last month joining the Alaska Legislature, Rep. Bill Elam in Nikiski this weekend fielded questions about education funding for an hour — saying he doesn't think HB 69 will see enactment because it is "just money."

BlueSky shows a lot of promise as a better Twitter less vulnerable to the whims of one person. Is there a better Facebook?

That social graph is sticky, with hundreds of fifty-something friends from high school.

Seems like good advice: don't engage
So about ten years ago I found a small network of bots on Reddit dedicated to spreading hate. The thing about it is that these weren't even responding to political topics - they were just responding to random keywords with insults and hate.

The same bots are now here. You should understand why. 🧵
this is kind of a niche issue but: if you are getting weird and hostile responses that feel a little off, there are some folks on here making accounts that automatically reply to large quantities of posts in a vaguely hostile manner. you can ignore them, and also, it's not personal

Insider trading. Makes you wonder who all was pissed at this guy.
Slain UnitedHealthcare CEO was sued by a firefighters' pension fund in March for insider trading and fraud. The suit alleges he sold $15 million in company stock while failing to disclose a DOJ investigation into the company. Read the lawsuit: www.kenklippenstein.com/p/lawsuit-ag...
