During this yesterday's NZET committee evidence session, CPT Director, @paulwhite-cpt.bsky.social, noted the importance of removing bus from congestion and the many factors that impact bus patronage.

Busy day for bus stats in Scotland!
Transport Scotland 2023-24 stats show a 13% increase in patronage and Transport Focus' Your Bus Journey found that 86% of people in Scotland are satisfied with their journeys.

Scottish Roadworks Commissioner, Kevin Hamilton, gave evidence to the UK Transport Select Committee this morning describing emergency and unplanned works as causing 'chaos' for bus operators.

Great news that the importance of a bus station at the heart of Scotland's Capital has been recognised.
Extending the lease ensures bus and coach operators can continue to serve passengers, and that public transport remains an attractive option to travel to and from the city.
Councillors have today agreed a 15 year lease for Edinburgh Bus Station - giving certainty to the travelling public and operators.

The new lease will take effect when the current one expires in September 2027.

As 2025/26 budget scrutiny continues, the Scottish Government should also consider the benefits of investing in bus and coach.
