seriously, what's the point in remaking the taskbar but worse? there is no fucking reason why this needs to be JS, you're not going to be running the windows taskbar cross-platform. you're running it on windows. that's it. just use the fucking native APIs.

the latest in the reactslop saga: you cannot move the taskbar in windows 11 because it's "too much of a technical challenge". this has been a feature in every windows version prior that I can remember.

Explained: Why you can't move Windows 11 taskbar like Windows 10, according to Microsoft
Windows 11 can't move the taskbar, and four years later, Microsoft still has no plans to bring it back. Here's why, according to Microsoft.

maybe instead of investing so hard into shoving AI everywhere it could possibly fit, microsoft should invest in making their operating system more usable and less reactslop

7:00pm, Eastern Daylight Time, July 2nd, 1996. The moment the world ended.

If - BIG IF - humanity survives this, we will mark time before and after this date and time. Civilization, obviously, has changed.

America, and perhaps the world, is under attack from an unidentified alien army. And "under attack" is a mammoth understatement. We haven't invented words to describe the horrors that have just happened.

so it turns out that it's not Verizon's fault. they just lock which network it can go on. Samsung is the one that locks the bootloader.

in other news I'm radicalized

after working with C++ for a hot minute I think I'm ready to admit that rust is infinitely better. all hail The Crab™. sacrifice all worldly possessions to The Crab™. become one with The Crab™. let The Crab™ become one with you.

I'm very pro ffmpeg here. Their software has kept my college's radio station on the air for the past six months, and the issues I've had were usually the laptop it was running on shutting off. the sheer capability of it both scares and impresses me

the ffmpeg social media is so snarky to people sometimes, but honestly I think they've earned it. it's one of, if not the most widely used open source project, so many applications rely on it somewhere, and most who flexes that they're "better than ffmpeg!!" are just an ffmpeg wrapper
