On this Transgender Day of Remembrance, we mourn those whose lives were lost to anti-trans violence.

We honor those we lost by continuing our fight for justice.
On Trans Day of Remembrance, My Grief is My Power | ACLU
As the trans community remembers those we’ve lost, I find strength in understanding why the grievous injustices that continue to harm our community must be stopped.

I’m not sure if if’s a sign of the mental illness or the recovery that when the old man passed away that my first thought was to quote Rizzo in Muppet Treasure Island or Monty Python Parrot sketch… but I DIDN’T and you should all be very proud of me.

It's so discouraging to post art when you see how fucked up the ratio of like to repost is. Just please, do the second click, it's literally few seconds and does so much more for struggling artists.

This past week I pivoted from the Tim Curry memoir audiobook for a bit to listen to @maryrobinettekowal.com ‘s Apprehension and maybe it’s my recent 50th birthday talking, but I LOVE this “older” POV character so much.

Also, Mary Robinette is SUCH a fantastic audiobook narrator.

I like this piece a lot about Rosalind Franklin’s role in solving the structure of DNA. It really respects her as a full scientist - what she saw, what she didn’t appreciate, what could have been if she’d had true peers to support her, or had not died so young.

What Rosalind Franklin truly contributed to the discovery of DNA’s structure
Franklin was no victim in how the DNA double helix was solved. An overlooked letter and an unpublished news article, both written in 1953, reveal that she was an equal player.

I have been traveling and today I present to you...the thing I saw in the Frankfurt airport.

Is it efficient? Undeniably. Does it probably work better than the normal way? Oh certainly. Produce less of a mess? Probably?

But the existence of Condiment Udders gives me a deep, aghast disquiet.

If the Super Mario Bros movie gave me nothing else, it has given me my 8yo yell-singing “NO SLEEP TILL BROOKLYNN” and that’s not nothing.

1. In an alarming move, the Trump administration has banned trans coverage for federal employees and their families, including youth and adults.

It mandates faith-based conversion therapy coverage.

It is one of the largest removals of coverage in the US.

When Theatre kids get into a “one up” argument (all in fun), the finishing move is apparently: “well at least I’m gay!” Cause that stopped it short.

I have spoken to rooms full of nondisabled people and heard this ripple of tense laughter. I have told my own story of flipping a car on black ice and people straight up told me they would just drive more carefully.

They can’t handle the idea that you can’t wellness and responsibility your way out.
Sen. Tammy Duckworth just said on Colbert, "We should all live long enough to develop a disability," & the audience laughed uncomfortably.

I can tell you what they were thinking. It was "Not me. That would never happen to me."

& the underlying, unacknowlged premise was "b/c I'm better than that."

A manager's amendment removed the words "for minors."

Fuck that’s a grim explanation
Hey, just a quiet reminder: it’s not true that people get more conservative as they age. *Populations* get more conservative as they age because poor and marginalized people die sooner.

Seniors Are More Conservative Because the Poor Die Off
Sometimes older voters aren’t just naturally more conservative. It’s just that wealthier and whiter people tend to live longer and healthier lives.

the more democrats concede to the republican war on trans people, the more that signals to the public that trans people are a problem and should be stigmatized.

Thanks to this you can see that the GA Senate has pushed SB39 and it is with the House now. This vile bill is designed to make it illegal for insurers used by state plans from covering gender affirming care. gafasttrack.com/bill.html?bi... Please call your state reps if you're in GA.
