Tired nurse, mom, and grad student. I love reading and collecting books. Introvert. Visiting National Parks = my favorite vacations. (She/Her)

Views are my own.
Excerpt from Surviving by Amanda Gorman:

“We might not be fully sure of all that we are.
& yet we have endured all that we were.”

“It didn't have to be this way.
In fact, it did not have to be.”

So many little friends at the feeder today: squirrels, yellow-rumped warblers, lesser goldfinches, and house finches. 🪶

The weather's been so nice it's starting to feel closer to spring.

A nice little Wednesday off work. Time for hot chocolate, puttering around the yard filling bird feeders, and reading ❤️📚☕🪺

One year of boycotting Amazon, Audible, Whole Foods, Prime Video, Target, Home Depot, Walmart, Spotify, Facebook, and Instagram… I've shopped locally or 2nd hand more often, consumed less, utilized the library more, switched to Librio.fm, and generally found I can do without or get creative.

I’m on day 900 at work, & I’m so tired. We had an all day training & the only thing getting me through was this email from Barnes & Noble that Nine Goblins by T. Kingfisher was out today. My husband took me to get a copy & the store only ordered 1 book & someone bought it right before we got there.

Don't even ask it to do hanging indents for references.

Word: I see you have 10 references. I'm going to indent 9 of them correctly, but this one reference 3/4 of the way down the page that your group member sent? I refuse to format that reference correctly.

Me: Cries in grad student APA format
Me: OK, I need to indent this single line.

Word: how about the whole document?

Me: no!

Word: WHOLE DOCUMENT DONE 🙂

Me: Arghhh.

Word: yaaaaay indent!

Me: UNDO, UNDO

Word: *indents everything you've ever written in both the past and future*

Word: I'm a word processor!

So much good art was made at bad art for good. I don’t know who made this (was it you??) but I love it so much.

I picked up an extra shift at work tomorrow for different units from normal. I was on these units for an extra shift Thursday & it was one of the worst shifts in a long time. I’m not looking forward to going back tomorrow & I’m working with one of the people who made the day particularly atrocious.

If you are in Seattle, please go patronize this store because this is amazing content/promo 😂 (laughing to keep from crying, and I do kind of low-key want that orange spider plant I have never seen that before)

Excerpt from Fugue by Amanda Gorman:

Every cough seemed catastrophe
Every proximate person a potential peril.
We mapped each sneeze & sniffle,
Certain the virus we had run away from
Was now running through us.

Excerpts from Amanda Gorman’s poem At First that resonated during COVID & today:

There were no words for what we witnessed.
When we talked to each other,
Our sentences were stilted
& stalled as a telegram.
Hope we are doing well/
As we can be/
In all these times/
Unprecedented & unpresidented

I’m on my one day off before an extra shift (why did I decide to spend my school break picking up extra shifts instead of sleeping?). My favorite fossil mug and I are going to do some volunteer work for the school and then I’m going to burrito myself in blankets and read all day.

I lead 1 to 2 safety huddles everyday. My goal for 2026 is to include a wellness tip or affirmation in every huddle.

I think we could all use today’s affirmation:
