The results of the CDC’s upcoming HICPAC meeting will surely be consequential for infection control standards in healthcare.
Will you join me in going on record by emailing the Committee?

Here’s what I emailed HICPAC (HICPAC@cdc.gov) and copied NNU:

In the wake of the horrific murder of Alex Pretti, RN, thousands of nurses and our allies in the community stood up to demand Congress stop funding ICE — and our lawmakers took notice. Now nurses acro...

CalCare, explained: A single payer system costs less & provides more care, for more people.

AB 1900 is a "policy framework bill," not a fiscal one.

Democrats opposing it on the basis of the latter demonstrate their allegiance to insurer interests over those of the people.

Why does Buonsenso (Lancet) claim NPIs like masks "might be useful" for prevention? Why is improved IAQ described as "still in the early stages of evidence building"?

We do know that BOTH can decrease new Long Covid cases AND prevent worsening symptoms in people already ill.

Dr. Brown suggests watching it not for entertainment but to make viewers "ask what it would take to make the ED a place where clinicians can do their jobs without being asked to normalize the unacceptable."

How about starting with guaranteed healthcare for all?

Have our Congressional representatives had a chance to see the "incontrovertible video evidence"? Have governors in other states had a chance to see it? Do they think what we see with our own eyes won't happen in their states and cities?
A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

There's value in honestly sharing personal preferences on masking, but you-do-you isn't public health. Nor is it "unbiased science."

My short thread on this piece & the need for layered, community-based strategies to reduce health harms from COVID & other airborne viruses.

I’m going to keep being honest about what I do and why. I’m going to keep sharing the evidence about the incredible effectiveness of masks. I’m going to keep trying to reach the people who might actually change their behavior.

Jess Steier claims to offer a reasonable, imperfect, & honest approach to masking based on her own personal risk tolerance. She favors meeting people where they are rather than shaming or coercing them, which has the opposite effect. Unfortunately, her strategy 1/6
