Alex Franklin, Katharina Dehnen-Schmutz and James Bennett attended #IPBES12's Stakeholder Day and the opening of the Plenary in Manchester this week, where they showcased DAISY_HorizonEurope and OneSTOP projects. The IPBES 12th Plenary focuses on Business and Biodiversity.

In Dec CAWR's Liliane Binego, Sue Charlesworth & Jana Fried (PI) visited Dr Kirsty Carden & team at the Future Water Research Institute at the University of Cape Town as part of their British Academy funded ISPoSA project. The visit enabled preparations for fieldwork in March.

In Dec CAWR & Garden Organic got together to celebrate Dr Margi Lennartsson on her retirement. Margi joined Garden Organic in 1987 for almost 30 years before moving to CAWR. Many well-wishers turned up. Margi will continue her association with CAWR as an Honorary Research Fellow.

On Dec 2-5th, CAWR PGR David Anene attended the Atmospheric Composition and Chemistry Observations & Modelling Conference (ACCOMC 2025) at the University of Wollongong, Australia. He presented his research on the health effects of microplastics from face masks.

Ivan Kourtchev received £3200 from the ITSS Equipment Sharing Fund to access the proteomics facilities at Warwick University. Access will allow PGR Dimple Pathania to investigate protein modifications in pollen exposed to anthropogenic pollutants, as part of the ongoing PhD project.

Between 26 Oct-1 Nov, Dr Lovemore Gwiriri travelled to Botswana as part of the CLIPS-Africa project, where he & project partners were trained in using a Laser Methane Detector for estimating Green House Gas Emissions (GHGEs) & on small-scale Black Soldier Fly production.
