The Gulf of Minneapolis was added by Google because it's in the USGS's Geographic Names Information System: edits.nationalmap.gov/apps/gaz-dom...
They added it in 2006, citing the "Deluxe Twin City Metro Street Map" from Hudson Map Company. They saw it in the 2003 edition of their atlas.

I believe blue are snow emergency routes, brown are east-west and green are north-south?
One thing I find slightly amusing here is Minneapolis uses different colors for east-west vs north-south streets and Minneapolis Ave runs diagonal

Today in 2017: After circling the Twin Cities on final approach, the last Delta Boeing 747 lands at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. It was a homecoming of sorts for N674US, delivered new to Northwest Airlines in 1999. The next day it departed for Atlanta on its way to the boneyard.
