I was watching the first episode on a plane and at the end I broke out into a heavy sweat and never returned to the show.
The amount of people who have missed out on the genius of Black Mirror because they were turned off by the disastrous first episode is so sad.

How odd that Matt Gaetz would vote against banning an app full of young girls.

Dave's summary of the Musk book is a good read. Calling it "the view from Musk" really clicks.
The immediate problem I’m having with this Musk bio (on page 7 of 615) is that (1) he’s a sociopathic serial liar, (2) Isaacson seems disinterested in seriously investigating whether anything he says is true.

Like, “wow, his childhood sounds unbelievably difficult. …SHOULD I believe this???”

It’s good to be periodically reminded that not all of the internet is awful
Absolutely. Reach out to cat@gaiman.net and she will get you the best address to send it to. Or better still, talk to The Golden Notebook bookshop in Woodstock NY and I will sign it the next time I go in to sign stock for them.

The concept and terms of a construction loan might actually be worse than a payday loan. All the same costs as a normal mortgage, plus high fees for each mandatory inspection to get the money. Sweeten it with a high APR, and requiring rolling a lower rate mortgage into the new loan at >2× the rate.

Premiering the new BlackBerry movie on the same day as the new Zelda game being released is such an unintentional nod to the out of touch nature of RIM's exec staff during their heyday.

"If we only attract people who already care about decentralization, our ability to make decentralization mainstream becomes that much harder."

A new onboarding experience on Mastodon
Today we’re making signing up on Mastodon easier than ever before. We understand that deciding which Mastodon service provider to kick off your experience with can be confusing. We know this is a completely new concept for many people, since traditionally the platform and the service provider are one and the same. This choice is what makes Mastodon different from existing social networks, but it also presents a unique onboarding challenge.

I’m taking Zelda-Friday off, and contemplating getting a babysitter for the weekend.
I don’t want to quit my job, I need my job. Maybe a leave of absence?
