I have a friend I play games with online as part of a little group at least once a week. We all hang out at the same club in DC and we all became really tight

I got into work today and found out from a friend that she died. It’s been a real struggle to get through the day without crying at my desk.

Ran into someone at work named "Rickard" which I had, up until now, absolutely assumed that was a name George RR Martin made up for A Song of Ice and Fire

An underrated part of Skyrim is how pretty realistic and intriguing the Civil War is.

Not just for spinning out of a bigger conflict, which I always find fascinating, but for portraying a legitimate sectarian conflict where you can make a case for either side

Sometimes I follow up on news stories months or years after they're "resolved".

Checked up on Wally the Beaver... and apparently after all that he got hit by a car and killed :( www.ffxnow.com/2025/03/06/w...

Cleopatra is closer in time to the present day than the construction of the Great Pyramid of Giza
Ok folks: what is your favorite fact that you share with people (maybe a bit too) eagerly?

If anybody in the Alexandria is looking for a dog, this very sweet pup in ALX my family took care of is looking for a forever home

Father John Misty once accidentally dissed me then, scrambling to fix it, said “no, you’re fine, you have classically handsome features”

Had that on my dating profiles for a while.
Forget insults, what’s the most unhinged *compliment* you’ve ever received?

“Minister, two basic rules of government: Never look into anything you don't have to. And never set up an enquiry unless you know in advance what its findings will be.”

Weirdly hooked on “Mr. Minister”. Also TIL Thatcher also loved the show. We’ll have something to talk about in hell.

Walked into a store and immediately felt cozy/relaxed by the vibe, then immediately got stressed again because I didn’t like that capitalism could manipulate my brain that easily

These parents killed their child and we need to say it
“The vaccination has stuff we don’t trust,” said the father of the 6-year-old girl who died of measles. In March, Tom Bartlett wrote about his visit with a family confronting an unthinkable tragedy.

Concept from the underrated 2006 'Prey' game that stuck with me is all the aliens you encounter after being abducted are other aliens picked up by this mysterious vessel travelling the cosmos. Like a real Noah's Ark where most the animals are trying to kill each other

Everything about Kingdom Come: Deliverance seems like it would be right up my alley but I just can NOT get into the wonky-ass combat system or needing to buy your saves in-game. They're up there with BotW's durability system for things that absolutely derail games I should love.

My other genuine but unconventional Christmas movie pick is good for the whole holiday season: The Green Knight

This is the George Mason Masonic Memorial in Alexandria (also we should have used the RiverRenew project to further enhance Alexandria's D&D town vibe, imagine the dungeons we could have down there!)

There's a lot of "it happens to take place on Christmas" movies but for my money, Tokyo Godfathers is *genuinely* the best Christmas movie and the themes of the holiday run deep through the movie in touching, poignant and funny ways. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZL_2...

As whelmed as I was by the Odyssey trailer, it did inspire me to start re-reading the Iliad and pick up Total War: Troy

We just did a grievance airing at my station and I was like “well I don’t really think I have anything-“ then went in an absolute tear about AI
When someone says "They hate ai" they're clearly talking about genAI and going "erm can't we specify genAI" is useless at best.
