A final push for our fundraiser: buckeyefunder.osu.edu/project/46587

Though we've met our goal, the uncertainty of continued federal funding means that every dollar counts, and every donor shows support for the work we do.

6) Many universities are backstopping these programs. Donate to your alma mater. If the top leadership is questionable, don't donate to the university-wide slush funds, donate to specific programs with control closer to the students. For example: buckeyefunder.osu.edu/project/46587

Continuations did not come for Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships and National Resource Center grants to universities (for all programs, as far as I can tell). Reach out to any students in your network, and please offer you support to these programs. Ideas below:

Ojakhuri made with Slovenian sausage and topped with Mexican cheese. Still tkemali on the side, of course. Turned out great!

Pretty exciting to leaf through my new cookbook (which touts itself as New American) and find a recipe for plov. I needed a new one--can't find the one I dug from the depths of the internet and used with great success years ago. No khachapuri, though.

In a serious blow to scholars, the Russian authorities have outlawed the Association for Slavic, East European, & Eurasian Studies (ASEEES) as an "undesirable organization." The designation poses legal risks for the organization's 3,200 members when researching in Russia. meduza.io/en/news/2025...

There’s a whole host of areas of expertise that the USG is going to find itself needing anyway, and will probably be forced to recreate through contracts that are more expensive than it was to sustain the knowledge ecosystem
I'll just take this moment to point out that the US Institute of Peace, just a few weeks ago, contained one of the finest concentrations of US expertise on India and Pakistan, and crisis management in South Asia.
