Ethics are pushed to the wayside when scientific advancement is on the line. These seven accounts, recently liberated from HBT’s archives tell the stories of both victims and perpetrators.

So I've posted about seeing disinformation.

But let's say you're the one who's been caught reposting a lie, an AI fake, or other disinformation... You fell for it! And someone called you out, it's probably not the 1st time!

What now?

Some remedial steps 🧵 ↓
"It's ok if I post disinformation because it could be true"
"It's ok if I misrepresent a thing as happening now even if the article is 5 yo, because it's probably worse now"

It's ok if I mislead people, because I'm on YOUR side.

Rings a bell? Unfollow and block them. Poison to your community.

What better genre to read at the advent of a new year than #sciencefiction. And what better format that short stories of weird futures and dire consequences.

Might I suggest this bundle of shorts? They’ll make you think and maybe even change your mind…

I’ve always considered these inter ferias days to be ones of introspection. Contemplating the year past and anticipating the one to come. Or contemplating nothing at all and giving that small, anxious beast in my mind a chance to rest for once.

Thank you for coming out of hibernation to say this. Now go rest.
Apparently I'm doing this -- my open letter to that open latter about AI in writing and publishing. I emerged from Hibernation Week to write it, so god only knows how much sense it makes. But at least a human wrote it, so that's nice.

Bonus: picture of my "cat," sweet baby Boomba.

We live in a Huxwellian world. Neither ‘Nineteen Eighty-Four’ nor ‘Brave New World’, but some Moreauvian splicing of the two. A good example of how #sciencefiction becomes fact, even if it was initially intended to warn.

I avoid smokers as much as possible (and I advise my daughters to as well). Because if someone can’t respect their own body, how can they respect others.

Likewise with people who use ai/llms. If you choose to rot your brain, I will not associate with you.

It may seem extreme, but change my mind.
