🧵 I've been on here for a bit and have already posted a bunch, but regardless, this is my intro/"here's my story" thread. (If you know me IRL or follow me elsewhere, it's likely you already know this. This is for those who don't. 😉)

I am both single and an #UnweddedWidow.

"Just as the dying are often carted off so that the process dying will be witnessed by only a select few, grieving individuals are encouraged to let themselves go only in private, in appropriate settings away from the rest of us. Sustained grief is particularly disturbing in a culture that offers +

"Individuals who want to believe that there is no fulfillment in love, that true love does not exist, cling to these assumptions because this despair is actually easier to face than the reality that love is a real fact of life but is absent from their lives." -bell hooks, #AllAboutLove

"One of the ironies of the culture of greed is that the people who profit the most from earnings they have not worked to attain are the most eager to insist that the poor and working classes can only value material resources attained through hard work.

The music in this remix reminds me of the music of @mgiacchino.bsky.social. And yes, that's high praise.

You don't have to be raised by whoever raised you to be upset about planned obsolescence. 😏
People say bad things about nepotism, but I kinda get it. Children get a lot of unteachable skills from their parents that allow them to exceed in the same field.
For instance: I've become really good at drinking 4-7 beers and complaining about the inferior quality of modern consumer appliances.

ngl as a former Christian, I really rather love it when Muslims and Sikhs outshine Christians.
Folks, if you are hungry, please contact your local Sikh gurdwara. Or just show up for langar, which most gurdwaras do several times a week, for a free meal. Lots also do weekly or monthly drives giving out groceries.

No conversion necessary. Feeding anyone who is hungry is a key part of Sikhism.
A lady on TikTok has been calling churches pretending to be a mother with a baby who needs formula and several churches turned her away. But wouldn’t you know that when she called a Mosque (Islamic Center of Charlotte) they immediately said yes.

Thank you to Rep. Yassamin Ansari for this act of total badassery—showing what real leadership looks like when others stay silent. Keep bringing the fire, the facts, and the fight. #GOPHealthCareShutdown

Gee, Kevin, I can't *imagine* why he doesn't want to talk to you. 🙄
Canadian multimillionaire and Shark Tank guy Kevin O'Leary went on TV to say he's upset Zohran won't talk to him: "I and others who invest in real estate have tried to get a meeting to figure out what's rhetoric and what's policy. So far for me it's been crickets."

We say men are less emotional because we coincidentally don't define anger or reacting because of ego as emotions.

In my almost 20 years as a lawyer, as a leader, as a department head, as an executive...the people I have worked with who are the biggest gossips, who are the most emotional, and who are the most conflict-averse are men. And the women are the ones who end up cleaning up that mess as a result.

Thinking of my college advisor & writing prof, Sandi Harner, who passed away recently. 😞 Her funeral was this AM. In '16 she came to my company & gave a writing seminar. ⬇️ We hadn't seen each other in 23 years—& I didn't see her again. I owe my career to her in a huge way. RIP Sandi and thank you. 💜

The lesson of history is that tyrants cannot be appeased.

Appeasement only feeds their insatiable hunger for power.

Tyrants prey on people who feel unsafe and vulnerable.

But without mass submission, a tyrant is powerless.

Remember this.
