Neat!
I didn't want to spend $750 on a vacuum seeder. So I designed one that can be made on a 3d printer for $5.

What a generous trove of plant illustrations! A joy to look at for many reasons. Thank you for passing this on, Brian!
I really like old herbarium illustrations. Last year I wrote some software to parse, score, and process the Oxford 400 herbarium dataset to remove the paper background and select the best photos.
If anyone needs a collection of beautiful plant photos...

All at once! Well, the lightening bugs might have to wait til next season. :D
people say “you need to start living in the real world” but they forget that the real world includes lupines and lightning bugs and ginger beer and starlight and sea coasts and Renoir paintings and Rachmaninoff’s piano concertos and fog banks and foxes playing in snow.

Because it is so cute. :) Perhaps Ms. Bird has some heritage seeds to trade. This photo could be the basis of a whole children's book.
“Good day, sir. I’d heard you’d recently come into possession of some bread. I see that I was not misinformed. As it so happens, I too enjoy baked goods. Might you be persuaded to part with a small percentage? I would of course offer fair compensation at the current market rate.”

You can find the most interesting things when you search with the keyword "cooperative." Again, Colorado! Imagine, drivers being able to make a fair wage. Cooperatives...a pathway for a healthy gig economy?
"As opposed to Uber and Lyft, where companies take a large percentage of every ride, the Drivers’ Cooperative guarantees drivers 80% of each fare. The remaining 20% goes to the cooperative." // by @samtabachnik.bsky.social
Colorado drivers start worker-owned ride-hailing platform to compete with Uber, Lyft
“A lot of people are tired of every aspect of their lives being controlled by an algorithm,” former Uber and Lyft driver Ryan Branin said.

Great piece by @cominsitu.bsky.social using the idea of socialization to think through how to mitigate and solve the ecological crises of the present. Neither the legalizing nor the moralizing approaches are up for the task.
It’s all about property relations!
“Unlike a workplace, nature cannot simply be seized by its employees & run under democratic self-management ... it is not just another factor of production... it is the condition & limit of our existence.”

As most cooperative and intentional communities know, city and county codes largely shape and control what it is possible to imagine and build. It seems the city of Boulder is making progress in understanding the value citizens dedictated cooperative living bring. Let's hope this is a trend!
The kind of elitist garbage that Boulder is finally striking from its municipal code: "the City Council seeks to balance the benefits of cooperative living against the impacts from the increased density that comes along with cooperative housing" 🤮
My Planning Board colleagues nudged Boulder one step closer to eliminating family-based residential occupancy limits tonight, including recommending striking all references to cooperative housing from our municipal code. Co-ops have their own chapter there!
