Godot 4.7 dev snapshot now has DrawableTexture! This will be super useful!
February 14, 2026 at 7:34 AM
The first #Godot release with Drawable Textures is HERE! AHHHHHH

Extremely pumped to see what people do with these (also very ready for a lot of feedback.) If you see this and play with these at all, tag it #GodotDraws - I'd love to be able to follow everyone's work!
Our first development snapshot for #GodotEngine 4.7 has arrived!

Virtual joysticks, drawable textures, Windows HDR support, Vulkan raytracing groundwork, and more are ripe for testing:

Big TV watching week, both Wonderman and Pluribus were delightful! Both funny, well paced, and very thoughtful. That said, if The Bear is eligible for comedy awards, I think Pluribus should be too - lots of moments had me busting up

Opened another Godot PR, refactoring AnimatedTextures! Was more straightforward than I anticipated, and behaves better in a few ways now

Refactor & un-deprecate AnimatedTexture by ColinSORourke · Pull Request #116122 · godotengine/godot
Animated Textures are currently flagged as deprecated, but have no direct workarounds for equivalent behaviors. The primary reason for deprecation, as I can tell, was that the ProxyTexture implemen...

So I wanted to make a Pokemon ROM hack right?
But oops, the DS hacking tools are frustrating to use on my machine, so it’s time for me to make my own tool with Godot.
But oops, a few Godot features I wanted to use didn’t work right, guess I need to contribute to Godot now! Etc, etc…
I have the exact opposite problem where I get nerdsniped into perpetually making tools instead of the project it was designed for
I think most game dev teams underestimate how damaging slow workflows are to the ultimate quality of their game.

If it takes 5 minutes to launch the game and see your changes, I think your game is going to be MUCH worse than the alternate timeline where it took 1 minute

EXTREMELY pleased to have finally had my DrawableTextures PR merged into #Godot! This is a significant feature I took a lot of time developing, and I’m so excited for people to get their hands on it in the first builds of 4.7 - and especially to admire cool new tech art this makes possible

I'm in here again! My DrawableTextures PR was a little too big to be reviewed in time, but I squeezed a few more bug fixes in. Excited to update my editor!
#Godot 4.6 is out, and all about your flow!

This release puts you and your workflow first with a new theme, flexible docks, and dozens of UX improvements. And Jolt Physics by default, revamped IK, better reflections, and more.

Less wrestling with UI. More making games.

I'm sure someone much smarter than me has a good reason for this, but it took me longer than I wanted to solve an issue created by this inconsistent bit arrangement. Baseline/Bottom are alternately 11 and 01 despite being enumerated in the same order. Funny #godot quirk I guess!

With the official artworks shared, I finally put all the new Mega Evolutions on Pokerating.com! Excited to see some new #pokemon hot takes come in.

14 Phases, a month of trying, in the range of 180-190 Successful catches, and probably nearly 400 Dynamax Adventures, I HAVE ACHIEVED TOOTHPASTE LIZARD. Had to turn down a Shiny Vaporeon for it though, tough choice ;)

Officially 100% Silksong - what a spectacular game. I think I give it 9/10 due to some rough balancing, and the ending not feeling as grand/satisfying as the original, but that doesn't detract from it being an absolute joy to play. Sheerly stunning in scale, and packed with constant surprise.

My name is in here! godotengine.org/releases/4.5/

Pretty small because I only got two fixes into #Godot 4.5, but the big feature I'm working on should be in 4.6 Development in a few weeks! Proud to be working hard alongside so many other cool names.

I too have reached this point, and share the sentiment
It's impossible for me to describe the things I'm doing or even the section I'm on in Silksong without spoilers, but my goodness, what a game

Silksong might not get funnier than my friend being in disbelief as I discover not one, but TWO whole new zones hidden behind breakable walls in areas he’d already traversed

Friend and I chatting on discord as play Silksong (WHAT A GOOD GAME) and I mishear something he says as “Spin Jump”. Now all our conversation centers around the mythical spin jump power up. If only I could find it.

Finally played the perfect game of battlegrounds duos. Buddy and I queued up, knocked this one out, called it for the night.

I was ready to write off Rick&Morty season 8 as disappointing, but those final 3 episodes were really strong. The finale especially, the show at it's best

Finished a week or so ago, but Deltarune is an extremely good video game! Incredibly paced story, no idea how it'll be topped after this. All the secret bosses really good too, beat CH2 secret in only 3 tries, but CH4 secret easily my favorite.
