I’m old enough to remember when we installed dictators in Latin America and started wars for oil without telling everyone.

A glaring omission from my 2025 reading list is a book I’m currently reading - Alien: The Cold Forge by @alexwhite.bsky.social.

After being told it was “arguably the best-written Alien novel. Makes corporate evil scarier than the Xenomorph itself,” it became a must read.

It delivers.

I don’t know. We’ve been absolutely crushing refine change this century.

The Venezuelans will welcome us as liberators.
It’s one thing to remove a regime; it’s another to replace it. The things it requires are always difficult, and will be especially difficult under this administration.
What ‘Regime Change’ in Venezuela Would Really Mean
It’s not clear the administration has settled on a goal, much less considered the consequences.

My fiancée definitely understands my reading needs for 2026. The Kingdom of Ice by Hampton Sides, The Wager by @davidgrann.bsky.social, and Hue 1968 by @markbowden.bsky.social.

I’m psyched for these stories.

It’s a shame we don’t believe our intelligence professionals. This seems like good information to have.

I wonder what bothers me more - that we have a government being run by middle school edgelords with zero decorum or professionalism or that they’re just this ridiculously unfunny.

Seriously, these are the kind of people who still tell Monica Lewinsky jokes and do loud Borat impressions.
