“As ship numbers surge, so does their pollution. It is imperative that we act now. It is no longer acceptable to allow the cruise industry to pollute Portland with impunity. We just need the courage to demand this change.”

“black carbon” (soot), is a complex mixture of partially burned high molecular weight organics. Very nasty, very toxic. A big problem when cruise ships have to run their generators next to human communities; in Eastport, they certainly do - No shore power here. Where is DEP? At what price, poison?
