When you can actually see what cruise ship scrubber wash destroys….
These sweet little worms live in the eel grass beds.

Incredible gratitude to @elizabethbeston.bsky.social for her amazing photography of the tiniest and most significant of marine life.
This little polychaete larva is having a good wiggle!

Cruise ships are one of the worst things on the planet for climate and our environment.

A single ship like this can emit more toxic air pollution in a year than all the cars in Europe combined. That’s not leisure, that’s poisoning the planet. 👇🏽

This is a beautiful copepod.

Copepods are integral to the marine food web.

Scrubber wash discharge from cruise ships is lethal to copepods.

Destroy the food web, you destroy the ocean.

Now do you get it?

We try to educate people to the devastating environmental harm that cruise ships inflict on our air and ocean. The residents in port communities have no choice but to be subjected to horrible air pollution, while their local waters are also negatively impacted by scrubbers.

Cruise Ships Are A Trojan Horse

Before I moved to Eastport, I lived & worked in Portland for over a decade. I saw firsthand how a waterfront city can trade its soul for short-term tourism dollars — & lose its community in the process. @jasminejaye.bsky.social
