It was an honour to join Londoners at City Hall to celebrate Black History Month under this year’s theme ‘Standing Firm in Power and Pride’.

A time to celebrate Black excellence, reflect on how far we’ve come and stand firm together in our fight for equality.

Honoured to win the 2025 BLAC Award for Overcoming Adversity (Adults). This belongs to every worker who stood firm, every ally who refused silence, and every record we corrected together. Deep gratitude for the solidarity that shaped this path.

Kudos to @IPPR spotlighting systemic gaps in youth opportunity. To enrich vision:
• Make enrichment legal right
• Fund mentoring via local authority duty
• Ringfence apprenticeships -FSM/NEET youth
• Enact dual discrimination protections (Eq Act s14)
Policy must have legislative backing
Less than half of young people feel ready for work after education. That matters - for them, for the economy, and for society. A real youth guarantee must support children beyond the school gates so that everyone can thrive.

Good news for Croydon! 🎉

Our borough has been allocated £548,282 in additional funding from the government’s £70 million investment in stop-smoking services for 2025–2026.

With over 44,000 smokers in our town, this funding will provide much-needed support to help residents quit smoking.
