I anticipate few authors as urgently as I do @markzdanielewski.bsky.social. Every work—such as House of Leaves, Only Revolutions, The Fifty Year Sword, The Familiar, The Little Blue Kite—has been brilliant. So, the bar he sets for himself may be high—but I have yet to be let down by him either.

Body Shots is back! Herein, we are genre blind. If we love it, we publish it. The conventional rubs shoulders w/ transgression, sci-fi w/ fantasy, horror w/ comedy, realism w/ surrealism, slice of life, crime fiction... and I am so excited for this year’s lineup. Go check it out!

Good question!
Thinking about how people see something and joke "this is going to turn me into the joker".

Wondering if obscenely rich people ever see something online and go "this is going to turn me into the batman".

UPDATE: Caribou Coffee saves the day by putting three different Honeycrisp Apple drinks on their menu for this fall season. Found my new MVP in the Honeycrisp Apple Caramel Espresso Shaker. 🥳
For the love of God, why did Starbucks discontinue the Apple Crisp Macchiato? Been looking forward to its return all year. I need answers. 😡

The best thing about publishing is getting to play midwife to a lot of cool shit no one has seen before. The worst part is when you’re all in on the birthing process of so many projects at once that your own WIP languishes in eyeshot on your desk, mean-mugging you daily for your incessant neglect.

So far, we've raised enough to cover us for the next two years-we'd love to be able to cover four years during this round of fund-raising so we don't have to do this again for awhile.
Thanks everyone who has donated. Please continue to spread the word.

Saw the trailer for The Carpenter’s Son and felt compelled to revisit LP1 by FKA Twigs. Still slaps. 10/10, no notes.

My favorite thing about glasses is how they make your vision better by making your vision worse in a different way.

Hit me with the best you’ve got.
Calling all outsider artists, poetic souls and prosaic misanthropes! In 2025, the handbook for the Kali Yuga evolves. We are still open for submissions for 7SH3 (BUT WE *REALLY* NEED MORE ART and web-media installations). Check guidelines at www.subtlebodypress.com/7shguidelines for more details.

So much work to do OMFG. But it’ll all be worth it when it’s done.

The Backbone is such a cool peripheral for cellphone gaming—if only 90% of the games I want to try on my phone actually supported it. 😭

It is finished: these 512 double-sided pages of hell. I have reached the exit of a literary labyrinth I became lost in for quite some time, where the beast within took no small measure of my life force in the process of its plumbing.

One thing no one prepares you for as an editor is how much more quickly your TBR pile grows, because every time you’re in a reading period for a publication, your leisure reading grinds to a halt—but that doesn’t mean you stop seeing (and buying) new books! 😳

More and more these days I feel like maybe we are all characters in a streaming series adaptation of a Tom Clancy novel adapted and directed by David Lynch.

Hmm. 🧐 The trade a paperclip for a house game but it ends with a brand new one of these. 😀

Test drove both a Lucid Air and a Lucid Gravity yesterday. My God, Teslas don’t even come close.

Apparently I am on a Clive Barker kick lately (when I’m not reading submissions for Body Shots or Seven Story Hotel or plowing through an edit for @subtlebodypress.bsky.social, or otherwise working on my next novel or onboarding the next-next one).

Revisiting this for the first time in over a decade. I thought I remembered how astoundingly excellent it is, but it exceeds the expectations of memory. It and Imajica were instrumental in shaping my imagination and kindling my desire to write. Wonderful book. #books #writing #horror #fantasy

Critics dogging Opus can’t possibly have watched the brilliant film I just saw. That was top shelf moviemaking.
