And Tom’s Crossing has one of the best openers—and, consistently, some of the best dialect-in-prose aesthetic—that I’ve read in quite some time. Expertly constructed, well layered, magnificently written. This is A+ God Tier fiction. Go buy this book right now. It’s worth every cent. Every. Cent.

It is finished: these 512 double-sided pages of hell. I have reached the exit of a literary labyrinth I became lost in for quite some time, where the beast within took no small measure of my life force in the process of its plumbing.

Revisiting this for the first time in over a decade. I thought I remembered how astoundingly excellent it is, but it exceeds the expectations of memory. It and Imajica were instrumental in shaping my imagination and kindling my desire to write. Wonderful book. #books #writing #horror #fantasy

Been a Ryu Murakami fan for years, since Almost Transparent Blue and Coin Locker Babies caught my eye at a Borders. I’ve had In the Miso Soup for 9 years but forgot it in my TBR vault until seeing it on B&N shelves all over this week (I ordered mine online in 2014; no one had it). Unputdownable! 1/2
