I'm honestly impressed by the immensely terrible job Democratic Senate negotiators did
Not only did they not get what they wanted, they only got a promise of a vote, for which a similar promise which has been broken before, but they also got less than was originally offered, which was nothing

A party that comforts the afflicted and afflicts the comfortable —not a party that buckles and capitulates.

There isn’t much evidence that layoffs are being caused by AI taking people’s jobs.
For big tech, such as Amazon’s recent layoffs, the reason seems to be a combination of cutting headcount to balance increased spending on AI infrastructure and anticipation of (not realized) AI productivity gains.

Americans understood that Trump and Republicans were to blame.
Voters made it known last Tuesday that they'll elect leaders who stand up to Trump.

One of the talking points I keep seeing from Democrats is that part of the deal is that it will "ensure federal workers receive back pay" but that's the existing law!
That's not something you've won in negotiations. That's just the letter of the law. You don't get to claim that as a win.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.
