Sparkling somewhere on the trans-spectrum.

Supportive, but cynical. Prone to hyper-fixation, impractical adventures and spending years hiding under the duvet.

Only interested in people who get it, not people who want it.

By the way, if you're checking out my profile to see what sort of person I am... this is going to be very confusing for you.
Final episode of Riot Women tonight - it's been a fantastic series. Awesome writing, and a joy to watch - and some lovely, straightforward representation too.

I've been reaching out to the online trans community more lately to find common cause - just at the time where attacks on trans identities and rights have exploded.

It's like walking into a pub to find friends and being met with a bar brawl. And it's left me feeling vulnerable and exhausted.

Trans people in the UK have been assigned the legal status of vampire.

We have a complex relationship with mirrors,
Everyone talks about us but no-one has actually met one,
We have a tendancy towards gothic fashion,
We can only go where we're invited.

All this BS about the supreme court judgement makes me want to set up a all-trans tech company with cat-girl only spaces, women-first products and a mission to obliterate tech-bro dominance.

All legal and above board, but fucking angry.

And none of that pandering shit. No like and subscribe dudes.

The institutions who owe us a duty of care are afraid to talk openly about the state we're in.

UK based trans, queer, lesbian, gay, bi people - and, you know, the rest of you too:

For what it's worth, I've had an online presence for nearly thirty years. Even though only a tiny minority will have heard of me, tens of millions of people have visited my profile as I've migrated across sites.

Holy crap. A really impressive (though long!) piece of journalism about ideological capture of the "trans debate", with direct links to the BBC.

This is the sort of thing @channel4news.bsky.social should be digging through as it explodes across our news cycle.

Gen.ID - We need an anthology series about gender and identity. Each episode is a 20 minute story: Love Death and Robots via Black Mirror playing with gender identity and alt cultures, followed by 5 minutes reaction/chat/humans in a Twitch chat does Last Leg (but half the age!) format to ground it.

People these days are too woke.. we need to go back to the days of real men, cowboys and...

...oh.

I would really like more of the trans community around me.

Meaningful interactions do more to reset my braincells than secondhand screeds.

I think I need more than a weekend to get my shit together before the next week happens.

The trouble with the relentless exposure to the "trans debate" in mainstream media is that it sends me down endless rabbit holes trying to work out what the truth is behind some random statement of fact.

It shouldn't matter, yet here I am researching medical papers and government statistics.

There's some irony that I probably have higher testosterone than Karp. He and his self-mythologising crew aren't very well known outside of tech circles, but their influence on modern America is astonishing. Not in a good way.
I’m sorry, but a goofy looking guy who grew up a privileged son of a pediatrician and has a phd in social theory from the university of Goethe and started in tech by investing an inheritance left to him by his grandfather talking about being a “dude” is very, very funny to me.

If the BBC don't select La Voix to be the new Director General, they will have missed out on the best punchline of the decade.

Being LGBT+ is honestly god-mode.

Questioning and deeply thinking abut your sexuality, gender and identity - and how others percieve you - is a massive step towards finding empathy and understanding for other human beings.

Not sure if I'll keep this up.

One of the greatest priviledges as a transfem was to be married in front of close friends as myself. It's years ago now, so the photos are dated, but they are precious to me.

I know I should read the news less, but there's so much.

GC: "O.M.G. tha BBC iz censoring my deep personal beliefs!"

Me: "No, they're mainly (though sometimes clumsily) trying to stop you from sounding like an ignorant bigot."

GC: "I'm being persecuted! Help! Help!"

Me: Rolls eyes dramatically.

Sigh.

TLDR; Rich nut-jobs make the world a shittier place.

I have to acknowledge that, as someone who first came out as trans in the 90's (no, not the 1890's), the language and frameworks we used to think about gender were very much of their time.

No regrets, but your early experiences can bake in a lot of difficult ideas and bad habits. Hugs to you all.

Loving this season of #strictly - It's like watching a particularly vigorous group therapy session. I want to give every one of them a big hug.

Strictly... Oh boy. Karen Carney is just epic, her energy is off the charts.

Oh... and where do I get Katya's skirt?

Comfort TV. Love it. #strictly

The *only* flaw in Celebrity Traitors (spoiler alert) was that Paloma Faith didn't have the chance to wear her entire wardrobe before being murdered.

In mainstream media there are three(?) trans storylines:

1. We're delicate flowers who can be saved
2. We're serial killers
3. Porn. Basically porn.

We need the equivalent of Sally Wainwright to tell other stories that aren't totally reductive. 🧵
