Really excited about this. Calendars have arrived. I'll be hand delivering them to some local customers tomorrow. I'm really happy with the quality of the print and materials. I'm even more excited because I found a more affordable vendor who charges ~$10 less in shipping than my original vendor.

I am loving the snow and freezing fog. :)

We got our first dusting of snow this morning. It wasn't a whole lot, but it was fun to see coming down so early.

Many forecasts are saying this winter in the PNW will see more precipitation than normal. I am hoping they're right.

Today's photos come from exploring yet another new place: Elk Creek Falls, ID. There were 3 waterfalls, none of which I made it to. I couldn't walk 5' along the trail w/out finding more mushrooms. These are only some of the photos I took, which is an even smaller number of the ones I saw out there.

I’ve spent the last year chasing light with late nights/early mornings to create my 2026 wall calendar. It is a 13-mo calendar (Jan '26 through Jan '27).

1st attempt didn't go so well. I made a 2nd attempt last Wednesday night. It was ever so slightly visible to the naked eye. While I still wish I could actually see the dancing lights in the sky w/out the assistance of a camera, I still appreciate the colors and patterns that the camera picked up.

We're getting closer to autumn. I know we're not quite there, yet, but...we can pretend, right?

So stoked. I got to conduct my first ever Milky Way/Astrophotography workshop in #DeathValleyNationalPark. It was such a beautiful afternoon and night. So stoked we got out there and got some shots in Badwater Basin. We'll cover the post-processing with them tomorrow morning.

The United States is no longer a democracy - we are an anocracy.

"The USA is no longer considered a democracy and lies at the cusp of autocracy; it has experienced a Presidential Coup and an Adverse Regime Change event (8-point drop in its POLITY score)."

According to the Polity Project, an organization that ranks and categorizes governments worldwide, the U.S. government is classified as a “non-democracy” as of February 2025, a downgrade from its prev...

This is potentially what Yale professor and author, Jason Stanley (and two of his colleagues at Yale) saw that prompted him to leave the United States for Canada. Stanley is an expert on fascism and has left the country due to the current administration.
connecticut senator chris murphy tells the new yorker: “i actually believe that there is a good chance that we are not going to have an election in which people can make an actual choice in 2026”

@aoc.bsky.social @repjasmine.bsky.social Is there any way we can have a vote of no confidence for the entire administration?

I know y'all (meaning Congress as a whole) voted this cabinet into position, but isn't it more than clear they're incapable of performing even the most basic tasks?

This was legitimately one of the coolest things I have been able to do.

As part of my job, I was given access to nearly everywhere before, during, and after the race.

This was a very cool experience. Pretty stoked.

This vote was to start the process of the cuts. It WILL come back for a final vote.

There are some chances to slow or potentially stop it. Need constant pressure on GOP

Focus on GOP swing seats & key committees. Energy & Commerce is where the Medicaid fight will go down. Ways&Means for tax fight.
@aoc.bsky.social
Please explain what just happened. Is there no way to stop this w the reconciliation to be used by GOP to get around the filibuster? Are we sunk?

I wasn't able to photograph the #50501 protests that happened all over the U.S. today, but I did get out for an anti-Trump/Musk protest that happened on the @cityoflasvegas strip on Saturday.

Genuinely curious why @cnn.com @foxnewscorporation.bsky.social haven't covered any of the protests.

U.S. Constitution, Articles 5-7.
Article 5 establishes the process by which the Constitution is amended. Article 6 establishes the Constitution (and therefore the Bill of Rights and all amendments) to be the supreme law of the land.

U.S. Constitution, Article 3 - Judiciary Powers (i.e. the Supreme Court). This is short and sweet. But, it also defines Treason, which I think is interesting.

We are on to the U.S. Constitution, Article 2 - Executive Powers. It's important to note that this section is VERY light.

Alright - here we have the U.S. Constitution, Article 1, Sections 8-10.

These sections are important because they discuss funding of the standing military, foreign bribery, and some other stuff. Check it out.

Okay. So, check it out. We're starting to read through the Constitution. This video goes through Article 1, Sections 1-7. It talks about veto power, Presidential Immunity, Power of the Purse, and who has the authority to make laws.

Reading through the Declaration of Independence. I think a lot of us need this reminder. (The video is 10 minutes long, and Threads wouldn't let me post it. So, go check it out on my Substack that I essentially started for this purpose.)

You know...today has been a good day. I met my work colleagues for breakfast, then went out to Red Rock Canyon to capture the rare weather that we had roll through. Now, I need to do some responsible junk and wish my wife a happy Valentine's Day. :)
