Public Servant. Organizer. Fighter. DFLer. Senator for Minnesota’s 66 District.
My thoughts on the “end” of operation metro surge:

➡️ I’ll believe it when I see it.
➡️ The damage remains. Our neighbors have disappeared. Our kids are traumatized. Our small businesses are struggling.
➡️ Minnesotans are leading the resistance.
➡️ Keep it up. Organizing works.

The energy at the SD66 DFL caucuses last night was incredible! Our neighbors are ready to organize.

Big night for me and baby Leo (his first caucus!) as I kicked off my re-election campaign.

We’re fighting to keep our communities safe. That means ICE OUT. ✊🏽

If my caucus is any indication, Democrats in the cities currently occupied by ICE want the whole damn thing abolished actually.
Democrats want commonsense reform for ICE:

End the roving patrols and racial profiling.

Take accountability and abide by the same rules as local police.

Masks need to come off, body cameras need to stay on—no secret police in the United States of America.

On Sunday, ICE took our neighbor and U.S. citizen Chongly Scott Thao from his home.

You can support his family by donating to their GoFundMe.

Once again, our kids are leading the way. Yesterday, Saint Paul students organized a massive, district-wide walkout, marching all the way to the State Capitol to demand that ICE get out of our city. I am so proud to stand with these brave students in their fight for justice.✊🏽❤️

Check out this full report from @rosevillereader.bsky.social on yesterday’s student-led walkout at Roseville Area High School. Over 700 students showed up to make their voices heard. It was amazing to witness.

So proud to be a Roseville alum. Our kids are leading the way.

So much admiration for leaders like Zaynab Mohamed. She somehow finds a way to bring optimism during such dark times.
A young lawmaker comes of age in Minneapolis, a city that keeps grieving
State Sen. Zaynab Mohamed’s life and career have been shaped by George Floyd’s death, school shootings, a political assassination and a deadly ICE crackdown.

So proud of the students at my alma mater, Roseville High School, for today’s walkout protesting ICE. They give me so much hope! Ask the young people in your circles how they need to be supported in this moment. They are leading the way.

Renee Nicole Good was a mother, wife, poet, and writer. She cared deeply for her neighbors. She should still be here today. As a new mom, my heart breaks for her 6-year-old child.

Let us say her name and honor her life.

Today we hope you will join us in remembering former Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic, who we lost one year ago today. She was known for her tireless work ethic, quick wit, and unyielding kindness. She was driven by service, not the spotlight.

Enrollment is up & MN’s 2-year colleges are keeping the entire system afloat. Faculty are the backbone of that success—training our workforce & supporting local industry. Yet, @mscfmn.bsky.social have gone 175 days without a contract. That’s too long. Invest in our educators.

Leo’s first doorknock. Talking to neighbors about why we’re voting yes for Saint Paul Public Schools. Every child and family in Saint Paul deserves access to quality public education.

Today, Leo and I attended the dedication of the Senator Kari Dziedzic Memorial Bridge. It was one of Leo’s first outings, and there was no better way to mark the moment than by celebrating Kari’s incredible leadership and legacy.

In 2023, I passed legislation that significantly restricted the use of no-knock warrants in Minnesota. According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s (BCA) most recent report, their use dropped by 78% last year. This is a major victory for public safety and accountability.
Report: Minnesota police executed 78% fewer no-knock warrants in Minnesota last year
The report shows many agencies, including the Hennepin and Ramsey County sheriff’s offices, stopped requesting no-knock warrants in 2024.
