The hematologist Oswald H. Robertson pioneered the idea of "blood banks" in WWI by packing glass jars of citrated blood from universal donors in an ice-filled chest that he had constructed from ammunition cases. Learn more in my book THE FACEMAKER: drlindseyfitzharris.com/the-facemaker/

One of my lovely Y11s gave me this painting she did following our trip to Tyne Cot, I’m so touched! Teaching really can be the best at times!

Gutted we can’t attend this year as last year was absolutely brilliant, but my team and I will be in Belgium with 40 Y11 students visiting the First World War battlefields. Looking forward to hearing all about it though!
If you have a ticket for our #Soane25 History teacher conference, then you'll very soon get the full programme and workshop options – exciting!!

Meanwhile, here is a sneak peak (with more to be revealed). 👇👁️

There are just a handful of tickets left. Link below!

Following our recent inspection my school has been graded Good in all areas. For the first time in its 30 year history. I can’t tell you what an achievement it is and how much it is deserved. And as history was deep
dived I like to think I played my part. Tonight I will be having a wine. 🥂

Which, incidentally, is why I think ITE should skew heavy towards subject specialism: schools are really well set up to teach generic pedagogues and behaviour management, less so curriculum

I adore DID but this episode is particularly brilliant, esp for teachers of US civil rights. Does anyone else have any DID recommendations? Would love to hear them! @bbcradio4.bsky.social

Talk about this a lot with my trainees, so important
Whether you have tables in rows, groups or singles, put something on your board & go and sit on every chair

Can you read the text?
Are there obstructions?
Are there distractors?

If you’re expecting students to read/see from a board you need to check that it’s actually visible
