Sir, what do you think Mamdani can learn from Hidalgo, if anything? It seems like his mandate is so far left of anything recent in the USA that he has to look elsewhere for experienced advice (aside from from yours, of course). @dicknixon.bsky.social

There's an entire TOD agenda for suburbia and I literally can't find a single US YIMBY who is pushing it. The problem is that US YIMBY laser-focuses on residential development, whereas what suburban TOD needs is commercial development at the train station, replacing the parking lots.

We used to call this stupidity. There were smart people and stupid people and we let the smart people do the things they were good at and the stupid people were taken care of and didn't need to worry about what the smart people were doing. But now we let the stupid people think they're smart.

@alonlevy.bsky.social Alon, if my son age 15 transfers to a French lycée and obtains AbiBac Franco-German high certificate, where would you recommend he study quantitative fields that are needed to do the transit planning work that you and others do? Haute école is goal; maybe we’re aiming too high

We're seeing a lot of very rapid geopolitical and geo-economic thinking going on right now in Europe about what the end of the US alliance means for its security, economy & diplomacy.

I haven't seen any parallel thinking among the US Atlanticist community about what it means for the US.
